He, Ash, had never really found out how to socialize. I mean, it's lonely being alone in a dormitory with no one to really talk to, don't you think?
Well, whatever your opinion is, he does not give a fuck in the end. He sits around in his room often isolated for days on end, and on the rare occasion he comes out, it's only to compensate for his poor attendance. His grades were decent, but he'd rather spend his time doing something 'worthwhile,' in his room, in his words. As a matter of fact, no one knew what Ash was doing in there except for himself.
Anyway, unfortunately for him, this was one of those attendance days. His roommate, on the contrary, was much happier about this. Ash slammed off his alarm; it was 7 in the morning. He went out of his room.
'Ash! Oh my god, finally! Have you eaten? Do you want breakfast? Okay admittedly I can't cook but still, I got some-' His rambling was interrupted by Ash groaning audibly. It's evident by the smell of takeout that his roommate, Red, had woken up way earlier and was just beginning to eat breakfast.
Although now that Ash thinks about it, he'd like some pancakes. His stomach growled at the thought of actual food. He'd been living off energy drinks and a prayer for the past week like always. Maybe a couple of light snacks too, but those weren't enough for proper satiety.
Ash nodded, too tired to speak, and went to the bathroom with some fresh clothes to fix himself up. He figured he'd probably smell like shit. Not that he knew, at this point he lost his sense of smell. Well, not really. He immersed himself in thoughts and nice, warm water in the bathroom, completely forgetting the whole point of showering. Red had to remind him to finish up because he had already spent half an hour contemplating life in the bathroom.
Ash exited the bathroom, feeling more clean. He had worn a black shirt and purple suit because he literally had nothing else to wear, and it was also cold outside.
'Nice suit,' Red remarked.
'Oh, shut up,' Ash retorted.
'It was a genuine compliment!" Red protested, slumping down on the couch. 'Do you want me to go to the laundromat for you?' Ash rolls his eyes but silently nods.
The sudden silence between the both of them was quite awkward, so Ash stood up and went to the dining table on the other side of the room. Some pancakes were left for him. How nice of Red. Speaking about Red, in desperate need of socialization, he asks a question.
'What about your last roommate?' Ash glances at Red while wolfing down his last pancake.
'Yeah?'
'Jaron?' he asks for clarification. 'I got some teacher or whatever to make him switch rooms with someone.'
'Yeah I see that, but why?'
'He kept a rock collection.'
'And..?'
'He threw his fucking rocks at me.'
'Okay.'
The conversation dove back into an awkward silence, interrupted by Ash drinking water loudly.
'This is extremely uncomfortable,' Red commented.
'You're making it more uncomfy.'
'Wanna skip?'
'I'm only here 'cause I need to fix my attendance.'
'Right...'
Ash stood up suddenly. In a few strides, he grabbed his backpack across the room. He looked at the door, then back at Red.
'Are you skipping?'
'No.' He bids Ash goodbye. 'It's only half past six.'
Ash opens the door and walks towards his first class. Wait. Red said something about getting his clothes to the laundromat, which meant that he'd go through his room to get the.. he shook his head. Those problems were for later. Right now, he should focus on getting to class quickly.
'You... ran out of clothes?' guesses a short-haired girl sitting in one corner of the classroom. Ash rolls his eyes and decides to sit beside her.
Her name was Squiddo. Ash met her online, and only recently they figured out they were schoolmates.
'You didn't tell me you were coming today! Not gonna lie, that's a nice suit,' she complimented, her head bobbing everywhere as she spoke. Ash, regretfully, doesn't know where she gets her spontaneous bursts of energy. He nods to acknowledge her words. Then he turned his head toward her desk and watched her drawing on her sketchbook for a while.
The professor entered the room, and Squiddo was forced to stop drawing. She hid her sketchbook under the desk and glanced at Ash before listening to the lecture. Something about math. Yeah, this was math, right?
Meanwhile, Ash was internally panicking because, well, a certain someone would go through his room in search of dirty clothes. You'd panic if someone would go through your private, personal belongings, too. He listened to bits of the lecture before his mind eventually, inevitably traced back to his room and his roommate and the anxiety of someone else going through his possessions.

'Ash.' Red says.
'Uhhhhh.'
'Buy a fucking laundry basket.'
