Chapter 2: Flower Picker

If there's one thing someone would yearn to own before the world turns bigger before their eyes, it is their name.

Who would never wanted to be called through something that would entirely named their own existence in this world?

To exists is to be known. Isn't it?

I never had a chance to have one. Almost.

When you have not given a chance to bear the name given by your mother, you feel as though you're living for nothing. It is like, you would just spend your whole life asking "who am I?". It's as if you could disappear in the world anytime, and no one could see the trace of life that you have lived.

I feel more of a human. An existing human in the huge world. That I actually have a place in this certain time.

And yet, here she is.

Those empty eyes still mystified me in a way that I want to unravel it.

I shook my head. Trying to remove that last thought. Why am I so invested to know her? Jeez. I am here to work as a gardener and I should know more about the flowers.

Mabuti na lamang at may walis tingting na nakasandal dito sa gate. It is my first day in the Evergreen and I should prove my worth here.

I heaved a sigh and started to clean the back place of the garden. Once I've gather all the dried leaves fell on the ground, it were all scooped through the dustpan placed nearby. It only took me minutes before the place looks more pleasing in the eyes.

I opened the water sprinkler planted in the grass, so that some of the flowers and the area will be hydrated. These beautiful dancing flowers should be watered gently, so they could live longer more than anything else.

"Hi there, pretty daisies." I cheerfully said while watering them. I even find myself whistling and childishly smiling as I look into them. Nature and gardening really have a special place in my heart.

Evergreen is probably one of the hidden gems in this world that I would selfishly wanted to be kept hidden in the eyes of public. Maybe Miss Veinstone's agenda here is right. Masyadong maraming tinatagong ganda ang hardin na ito, but all the public see are such horrible things.

I only have a year to spend my time connecting again to nature, and I don't really want to exhaust myself dwelling into something that's purely rumours.

Kailangan ko lamang ulit magpahinga. I just need to breathe again.

I snapped back from the reality when I noticed something quiet strange.

A petal was gone in the daisy that I'm staring to. I look around and saw some flowers have lost only one of their petals too. I mean, it will be less weird if someone would just picked the whole flower and not just one of its petals.
