By the time Claudia and Lumen arrived home, Vivienne was there arguing with her husband. Claudia slowly shifted back into her normal self as she settled lumen back on her feet. Claudia kept her coat wrapped around Lumen and placed her hat on Lumen's head to cover her pointy ears and to hide Lumen's predatory characteristics. Claudia and Lumen entered the house quietly as Alexander and Vivienne argued loudly in the living room.
"Vivienne out of all the crazy things you have done in the past, this has to be one of the most stupid and careless things you ever done! How could you force Lumen out of bed just to meet with some boy?!" Alexander asked angrily,
"That boy is her future husband, the Miller's are gonna help us financially secure us in exchange that our children marry!" Vivienne explained,
"You don't about care us! You don't even care about Lumen! All you ever think about is yourself! Our daughter is still out there sick with a high fever!" Alexander yelled,
Claudia and Lumen walk through the hallway past the living room. Alexander sees them and rushes to them. Claudia hugs Lumen, hiding her face. Vivienne took a seat in her arm chair unamused.
"Oh thank god! Oh thank goodness she's alright!" Alexander said in relief, "Claudia thank you so much for bringing her home!" He thanked,
"I told Vivienne Lumen was not well to get out of bed, I found Lumen outside the cafe lying against the building barely conscious" Claudia explained,
"I'm very grateful you brought her home safely Claudia, bring her upstairs back to bed. I need to have a talk with my wife!" Alexander said while glaring angrily at Vivienne,
"Yes sir" Claudia said with a nod,
Claudia escorted Lumen upstairs to her bedroom. She placed Lumen on the bed, she was still in shock from the incident her right hand still covered in Henry's blood. Claudia quietly closed the door and locked it, she went into the bathroom and fetched a wet cloth. She walked up to Lumen by her bedside, lumen turned away in shame. Claudia sat down by her bedside and sighed. She gently grabs Lumen's bloody claws and washes it gently with the cloth.
"Lumen, I know this a very confusing and scary situation for you right now. I honestly hoped this day would never come. I expected it to happen to you when you started puberty, when it didn't happen I assumed it had skipped"
Lumen slowly turned to Claudia with concern on her face. She sat up wanting to know more.
"What are you talking about?" Lumen asked,
"I promised your father I would never tell you this. I have kept my mouth shut about it for nearly two decades"
"What secret?" Lumen asked,
"Lumen, I am your mother" Claudia confessed,
Lumen's heart jumped upon hearing Claudia's confession. She couldn't believe it, then it hit her. Lumen recalled her memories of spending with Claudia, being cared for by her ever since she was a baby. Claudia didn't care for lumen because it was her job as a housemaid, Claudia cared for her because she was her mother. Lumen started to believe her. Slowly Lumen's predatory characteristics faded away, she reverted back to her normal self again much to her relief.
"It all makes sense now. I mean how did I not put it together?!" Lumen said as she stood up,
"I never expected you too, I hoped I never had to tell you this because you were already dealing with enough while growing up in this house. Now that I've told you the easiest part, now it's time for me to deliver the hard part"
Claudia goes into the kitchen and prepares some tea for herself and Lumen. Vivienne and her husband were still in the living room arguing.
"Alex, what I have done is for the sake of our family. We need the Miller's financial security!"
"No what you need to do is to stop spending so much money on unnecessary things you keep buying for yourself!" Alexander said sternly,
"Speak for yourself, you waste money on keeping that housekeeper. She sleeps under our roof, eats our food, and makes me look like a bad mother!" Vivienne snapped,
"She makes our house look spotless, she cooks for us, and she has taken great care of our daughter!" Alexander exclaimed,
"You mean your daughter!" Vivienne shouted,
Vivienne storms out of the living room, marches upstairs to her room and slams the door. Lumen and Claudia heard the slam from across the hallway. Claudia serves Lumen tea and makes a cup for herself. Lumen keeps thinking back to the incident and what was happening to her and Claudia physically. Claudia holds her cup nervously, unsure of how to explain what she wants to tell Lumen.
"Lumen, your fever wasn't a bad case of the flu. The fever, chills, and body changes were symptoms of you flowering. We are a unique type of human that can turn ourselves into beast-like creatures or wolf-like creatures, or what most people today call them, werewolves" Claudia explained,
Claudia stands up and demonstrates by transforming into her werewolf form. Lumen observes Claudia's form with fascination. Claudia slowly reverts back to her human form.
"And that was just the half form" Claudia explained,
"Half form?" Lumen asked,
"The full form resembles a wolf's, but bigger than normal. Some forms reach up to 9 feet long, and weigh close to 800 lbs. That's about the size and weight of a horse" Claudia described,
"That's huge"
"Yes, and it has been almost two decades since I last took that form"
"You and my dad were close, weren't you?" Lumen asked,
"Mhm, till he married that shallow, money burning, spoiled woman Vivienne"
"My mom- or Vivienne was never really my mother? How could my Dad marry her instead of you?!" Lumen asked heavily confused,
"Well to be honest, your father didn't have a choice. I think it's best I tell you how it all started"
Claudia decided to tell Lumen her story.
