Like the one and only sun
That shines in the blue sky
There he was
Shining in her eyes.

Alan tossed and turned in bed. Sleep was far away. How could he rest when, right beside him, his wife, his first love, lay so close? He wondered if Evanna felt the same way, unable to sleep just like him. Curiosity got the best of him. In the dim light, he slowly turned towards her, hoping to catch a glimpse of her face. To his surprise, he saw her sleeping peacefully beside him, her face calm and serene.

Alan couldn't help but smile. Even in sleep, she looked so beautiful and at ease. He felt a wave of warmth and love wash over him. Gently, he reached out and brushed a strand of hair from her face, careful not to wake her. For a moment, he just watched her, feeling grateful for this quiet, perfect moment.

Suddenly, Evanna moved in her sleep, making Alan freeze in his place. His heart raced, worried that he had woken her. But instead of waking up, she cuddled closer to him, her head resting gently on his chest.

The warmth of her body and the softness of her breath against his skin made Alan's heart skip a beat. He felt a rush of emotions, a mix of happiness and nervousness, flood through him. The closeness was almost too much, making him feel giddy and light-headed. He wrapped his arm around her, holding her close, afraid to move and disturb the peaceful moment.

For the rest of the night, Alan lay there, unable to sleep. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and feelings, but above all, he felt a deep sense of contentment. Holding Evanna close, he realized how much he cherished these quiet moments with her, even if they left him wide awake.

In The Morning

The birds chirped as Evanna woke up, feeling content and well-rested. She stretched and smiled, thinking about the peaceful sleep she had just enjoyed. However, her smile quickly faded when she saw Alan on the couch.

“Oh my God! What happened to your face?”
She exclaimed, noticing his swollen eyes surrounded by dark circles.

Alan looked at her like a zombie, his eyes heavy with exhaustion.
“I couldn’t sleep last night.”
He replied, his voice flat and tired.

“Huh? Why? I slept so well, so how could you not sleep at all?”
Evanna asked, genuinely puzzled.

“Think about why I couldn’t sleep.” Alan said with a hint of sarcasm, his sleep-deprived eyes glaring at her before he shuffled off to the washroom to get dressed.

Evanna frowned, her mind racing. “Why does it feel like I’m the reason behind it?”
She mumbled to herself. But in the next second, she shook her head and dismissed the thought.
“Never mind.”

Due to not having proper amount of sleep yesterday night, in the morning, Alan accidentally poured coffee on himself and bad luck cause just that time Jake informed him about a sudden meeting that was set with their potential client which meant Alan had to get dressed in formals. As such situations might arise, he always kept an extra pair of formals. And so binding the windows, he was getting dressed in his cabin when Evanna entered the cabin to deliver a report.

“The report-”
Evanna stopped on her tracks as she saw Alan’s shirtless body.

Oblivious of her being inside the cabin, Alan continued to dress whereas instead of excusing herself, Evanna without making any sound continued to watch in silence.
