The routine of walking home from school every day had become a dull and boring habit. The same monotonous road, day after day, grew to irritate me as much as the walking itself. It wasn't the only thing in my life that felt tedious... my parents' indifference weighed heavily on my shoulders. They occasionally provided the necessary care and uttered hollow words of "love," but their actions had waned since I turned 12.
The warm embrace of spring enveloped me as I made my way home. The cheery chirping of birds filled the air, and the sunlight danced upon my skin. Despite my dislike of walking, this gentle distraction was a welcome relief, especially when the weather was so agreeable.
I often found myself feeling slightly uneasy while walking alone in the open. The sensation of unseen eyes on me triggered a subtle chill, causing me to turn and scan my surroundings. Yet, every time, the road remained empty, and I convinced myself it was just my imagination. Shrugging off the feeling, I resumed walking down the seemingly endless road.
The sudden appearance of someone behind me caught me off guard. A cloth was pressed against my mouth, and an arm wrapped around my throat, confining me. In a burst of adrenaline, I elbowed him in the stomach, momentarily breaking free. He fell to the ground with a groan as I seized the opportunity to sprint away with all my might. But just as I gained a bit of distance, a slam echoed through the air, followed by the looming presence of another man approaching from the left.
Despite my determination to escape, my weak legs betrayed me as the other man quickly caught up. He seized my wrist with a powerful grip, yanking me forcefully towards him. I struggled to break free, my efforts in vain as his ironclad hold tightened around me. I was dragged helplessly towards a menacing black jeep, the realization of my captivity sinking in with each step.
The failed kidnapper, still grimacing from the pain of my earlier blow, stood beside the jeep, ready to open its doors as I was unceremoniously shoved inside. I landed on my back, my head colliding with the surface, causing a brief daze. Before I could fully recover, the man followed me into the vehicle, taking up space on the backseat.
"What's your name?" he asked, his brow somewhat furrowed in annoyance. Defiance fueled my reply, "Why would I tell you that?" He grew increasingly stern, demanding an answer. "Answer me." I stood my ground, refusing to give in to his demands. "I won't tell you anything," I shot back defiantly. His patience worn thin, he let out an irritated grunt before delivering a sharp slap to my cheek. "Oww!" I sneered. "Your name. Now." He repeated, his voice dropping an octave. His frustration was clear as he let out an irritated huff. With a swift motion, he drew a glittering knife from his pocket. The cold steel gleamed in the limited light within the vehicle. His gaze locked onto mine, his expression stern. "Care to cough up your name or do I have to force it out of you?"
Leaving this off at a cliffhanger 😊
