I felt like writing this idk why.
The classroom was a blur of fluorescent lights and hushed whispers. I was supposed to be focused on the lesson, but my mind was a thousand miles away. My phone vibrated in my pocket, a silent panic attack. I knew that number. It was the hospital.
My heart pounded as I slipped my phone out. The screen flashed a message: "Urgent: Please call this number immediately." My hands trembled as I answered.
"Hello," a voice said, their tone laced with urgency. "Is this Rose?
"Yes," I replied, my voice barely a whisper.
"I'm calling from the hospital. Your mother has been involved in a car accident. We need you to come in as soon as possible."
The world seemed to freeze around me. My mother, the woman who had always been my rock, was hurt. I tried to process the information, but my mind was racing.
"Can you please repeat that?" I asked, my voice shaking.
"Your mother has been in a car accident. She's currently in a stable condition, but we need to speak with a family member."
Panic surged through me. I glanced around the classroom, my eyes landing on my teacher. I knew I couldn't leave without permission, but I couldn't just sit there and wait.
"I need to leave," I said to my teacher, my voice barely audible.
"Is everything okay?" she asked, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "I'm sure you're just bored with my class. Go ahead, be late."
I felt a surge of anger, but I knew I couldn't argue. I put my phone on speaker and the hospital representative repeated the information. The entire class fell silent, their eyes filled with shock and pity. I ran out of the class, my heart breaking with every stepAs I rushed out of the school, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was alone. My father was at work in a different city. Both my older siblings were in university in a different continent.
My mother was in the hospital, and I had no idea what was going to happen.
When I finally arrived, the hospital was a blur of white walls and anxious faces. I was led to the waiting room, where I sat, my heart pounding in my chest.
Hours seemed to pass as I waited. Finally, a doctor emerged from the emergency room. "Your mother is stable, but she's in a coma, she may never wake up again" he said.
My world shattered. My mother, the woman who had always been there for me, was lying unconscious in a hospital bed.
