A few Luzon Warriors are sent to the sea to fish. They had to be extra careful, as the cove might be infested with Atlantean scum. In the distance they spotted... a person. It didn't look too human. It's head was horizontally long and big red bulging eyes stared. It carried a spear.
"Who is that?" One warrior exclaimed. She pointed a pistol at it, ready to shoot.
Another older one stared and remembered seeing this thing on the news when he was younger, devastating cities to show up Aquaman.
"I recognize that helmet," He said, placing a hand on her pistol and lowering it. He stared for a long time before confirming it was him. "He is Black Manta."
"Black Manta, uncle?"
The man nodded at the figure in the distance.
"He is our hope."

Black Manta, or David, as he introduced himself, sat in a warehouse with the squad that found him. This very large warehouse was once a factory, remnants of technology still there. On the surface level was a market and in the tunnels underground were living spaces. The Luzon Warriors of Manila took refuge here, as it was a direct path away from the city while it was being invaded. Manila was a few hours away.
"Is this eel?" David said, his voice gruff and booming. In front of him was a girl who was told to take care of him.
"Yes. We fished and pickled it last week." She replied, smiling. David looked at the young girl and furrowed his eyebrows. She is way too excited to see a villain, he thought. He looked at the eel again and grimaced, not particularly having an appetite for pickled eel. The girl saw this and frowned.
"Is it not to your taste?"
"I'm not hungry..."
She smiled again, and took the bowl from him.
"I'll eat it then. I apologize, we've had to pickle all our meat in salt. It isn't every day we get to fish, because of the Atlanteans."
He looked sympathetically at her and then a look of anger crossed his face. "Aquaman..."
The girl looked up from the bowl with a questioning look. "Aquaman?"
He looked at his crossed legs and clenched his fists. The girl tilted her head in question.
"He's the man who did all this. He was my nemesis, I used to do this to spite him. To take his throne. But now I see that he never did this to be the hero. He was never who I thought he was..."
The girl looked at her bowl again. She remembered her mother and siblings being taken, her father being killed in all the chaos. Only her and her grandparents survived.
"I see. We call him the Masama." She said. Her voice was devoid of happiness when she said his name, but he could tell he brought her hope. He brought everyone in this warehouse hope, as they knew he was the only one capable of defeating Aquaman.
He looked up at her in determination, the girl looking at him as well.
"What is your name?" He asked.
"Asa." She responded.
"Asa. I promise to restore freedom to you."
