The meeting had gone well despite a certain feeling of dis-ease that Seokjin had in the pit of his stomach. Things had gone well lately. Things were running smoothly for their group of survivors. But now they had to do the very important mission a second time. The idea of three of their members leaving the city limits always gave him anxiety but so far he had been able to hide it.
The mission was planned for tomorrow. Namjoon and Jungkook had been informed, and Jin had been given joint-command of the Shelter with Miss Yoonji like before. This time the team had the trailer so they could take more water jugs to fill, and the task would probably take a few hours more.
I have nothing to worry about, Jin assured himself. They're perfectly capable of handling it, and I'm perfectly capable of handling things here. He tried to push down the nagging feeling, looking forward to the evening. They'd eaten supper and he'd finished his chores in the kitchen, heading back to BTS camp with some clear plastic cups still in their wrap. Lau had requested them for the jar of tea he'd made.
"You put the kids to sleep?" he asked Namjoon softly when he sat with him. "How did they handle the news?"
"Sarang is upset," he replied, looking guilty. "I had to snuggle her for a while."
Jin could have told him not to go, but they needed him as much as they needed Jungkook. Namjoon wanted to be useful and have a purpose, and he was finally confident enough to leave the Shelter. This was a big thing for him, so Jin didn't bring it up. "I'll look after the babies tomorrow," he assured. "I'll keep Sarang from finding time to be upset."
It was a promise. He was taking the day off from the kitchen station to spend time with the kids, and his staff had been insistent they would be fine on their own. I have some reliable friends, Seokjin thought gratefully.
Lau got the fire pit lit and sat down. Two extra chairs had been put out for their guests, who showed up a moment later. Sang looked so happy to have people to socialise with. She plunked down between Yoongi and Jimin.
Everyone was arranged randomly in the circle, except for Taehyung and Jungkook sticking close like magnets. Jimin felt like an island, looking across the fire to Eun-ah, and wishing for bed-time when they could massage lotion into each others hands, share her lip balm, and snuggle under the covers.
Yang Hyeon didn't look pleased to have to sit between Lau and Hobi in the only other chair across the fire from his wife, and then Lau offered him something to drink. He eyed it warily.
"It's not alcohol, I didn't forget," the man promised. "It's just tea. It's not even good tea," he assured flatly.
"I'll have some then," Hyeon decided, taking a plastic cup and sitting down next to him. Sang smiled at her husband.
"How have you guys been?" Ye-eun inquired.
Sang giggled. "I don't know if it's because of the pregnancy, but the sex has been amazing."
Jimin turned to her with a raised hand, looking uncomfortable. "We have heard you," he assured. "Please tone it down a little. The whole place can hear you."
"Pfft, my husband is an idiot. If I don't make a little noise he doesn't know if he's doing a good job," she argued, and Hyeon was the one to look embarrassed. He actually blushed.
"Perhaps we should change the topic," Eun-ah advised. "The little ones are nearby."
"Aren't they asleep?" Sang asked.
"I bet you one of them isn't," Yoonji muttered, looking over her shoulder to the futon the children were sleeping on. Sure enough, Soo-bin lay in the middle, and raised his hand to wave at her casually. Yoonji glared and motioned with a finger for him to come to her side.
