"No, why now?" Lydia groaned as she sat next to her toilet at five am. She had been up all night sick and throwing up. She didn't get sick often, but of course, the one time she did it was the night before she was supposed to go on a date with Blake.
She felt like shit, that would be an understatement. She woke up at three am burning up, she was sweating and she had to do a full sprint to the bathroom so she didn't puke in her bed. She had thrown up about three times in two hours and didn't see an end in sight. She wracked her brain for reasons why she ended up in this position when she thought of work.
About noon the day before, one of her usuals brought some chocolate chip cookies. The ooey gooey kind of cookies...at least that was what she was told when Lydia asked why they were a little softer than usual. They weren't fully cooked, and Lydia had food poisoning from the raw egg.
After she felt like there wasn't any more vomit crawling up her throat she got up off the tile floor and headed to bed. She would've texted Blake but didn't want to bother him at five am. She turned on her fan next to her bed and aimed it at her face so she could stop sweating so much. But she pulled the blanket up to her chin because her body was cold. Oh, the joys of being sick.

Blake was up and at em at ten am. He had a lot to do if tonight was going to be perfect. He had to go pick up the fake flowers and make sure they looked realistic. He had to make sure the outfit he picked out looked right. But first, he needed to text Lydia.
Could you wear something green, please and thank you.
Delivered. He figured she was working since it was a Tuesday and their date wasn't until seven that night. So he didn't expect an immediate reply. He threw on some of his regular clothes before grabbing his keys and heading out to the store.
After getting all the flowers he needed, plus tissue paper and ribbon he went home. He grabbed some lunch and got home around noon. He was in the kitchen with all the flowers he bought laid out in front of him. "What are you doing?" Larry asked as he walked over to the fridge.
"Making a bouquet," Blake said as he began arranging the flowers.
"Of fake flowers..." he said skeptically as he grabbed a water.
"Lydia's allergic to flowers, but I want to give her flowers for our first date." He summarized as he grabbed the bunch of plastic stems and wrapped some ribbon around them.
"Damn. What is it with you and giving her fake flowers?"
"Just because she's allergic doesn't mean she shouldn't experience the cliches and most of them include flowers." He said as he wrapped some tissue paper around the flowers and put more ribbon around it making it look like a pretty bow. "And done. Only took what, ten minutes." He said as he admired his work.

Lydia had been passed out asleep in her bed all day. She called out of work but completely forgot to text Blake. So, when she heard a knock on her door she climbed out of bed, dragging her blanket along with her. As she opened the door and saw Blake standing there in a nice outfit (that she'd never seen him in), her eyes widened in panic. "Oh my god, I forgot to text you. I forgot to tell you." She panicked. But it was also unfortunate timing as she felt the familiar vomit climb up her throat. Lydia quickly turned around and rushed to her guest bathroom.
Blake was right behind her, setting the bouquet on the nearest counter, closing the front door behind him, and rushing right behind her. He sat down behind her on the floor in the bathroom he held her hair back so it didn't get in the toilet water or get any throw-up in it. he held it for her even when she was done and just leaning over the toilet bowl. He let go when she leaned back against the wall, but he didn't urge her to speak.
"Sorry, I've been sick all day." Lydia apologized as she sat up.
"Don't apologize, you can't control it. I can reschedule the reservation, I just care that you're okay." Blake told her as he helped her up off the floor. "Let's get you back to bed for now."
"Thank you," Lydia said gratefully as he helped her to bed. once she was back in bed Blake went and got one of her big water bottles and filled it all the way up. On his way back to her room he grabbed a trash bag and the nearest trashcan. He set the water next to her bed on her nightstand and put the trash can in front of the nightstand so that she wouldn't have to go to the bathroom if she had to throw up. "You can go home, you don't have to stay."
"Wanting to stay and having to stay are two different things. If I didn't want to stay I wouldn't be very good boyfriend material, would I?" Blake said as he sent a cancelation text to the restaurant's conformation number. "Now, do you want grilled cheese and tomato soup or just chicken noodle soup?"
"Ooo, I haven't had a grilled cheese in a while." Lydia said, her mouth watering at the thought.
"Coming right up."

Blake ran to the store as quickly as he could, not wanting to leave Lydia alone for too long. He sent a text telling the group he wouldn't be home that night, not caring for their 'ooo, someone's getting lucky,' texts and whatnot. Once he got back to her apartment he started cooking. He knew she was asleep, so he tired to be as quiet as possible while he cooked.
He could not care less about the date at this point. He was more worried and concerned about her well being. Dates could be rescheduled and he knew that.
Once the grilled cheese and tomato soup was ready he put them on a tray and walked to her room. He set it down before walking over to her and lightly shaking her awake. "Your foods ready, Lyds." He told her as she softly groaned and opened her eyes. She nodded before sitting up and he brought the tray over to her. "On today's menu we have a classic grilled cheese, but I used Colby jack cheese instead of craft singles to make it taste better. Tomato soup for you to dip it in if you'd like or just to eat. And your large bottle of water to keep you hydrated."
"Thank you. You didn't have to do this, honest." Lydia said as she watched him set the tray down in her lap.
"I already told you that I wanted to." He said before he walked around to the other side of her bed and sat down next to her.
Lydia smiled at him and his sweetness. She was grateful she got to see the kind and sweet side to him. Not a lot of people saw that, but she also loved the rude side to him because when he was rude, he was funny. And we all know that being funny is very attractive.
Blake pulled up a movie for them to watch while she ate, a conversation occasionally taking place every so often. When she finished her food he took the tray down to the kitchen and planned to wash the dishes later. He headed back up to her room and sat with her until she fell asleep again. He was just glad the food stayed down.
Lydia soon fell asleep again and Blake was glad she was feeling better. Even if it seemed like she was sleeping too much, she hadn't thrown up in the last four hours and she wasn't as pale when Blake first got there. So she was already looking a lot better. "Not too bad of a first date." Blake said to himself before he went downstairs to clean up the kitchen.

Me writing chapters while working everyday: 💪🏻😤. Guys...sad news. I might wrap this up soon. So pick should this end on chapter 27, 28, or 29. Cause like I don't think I could stretch it to 30 ngl. Now, I COULD STILL CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT THAT but that's where I'm at rn. Btw if I don't update for a hot minute there's three reasons. 1, I'm focused on school (only if it's anytime after the 26th). 2, I'm not in the mood to write. Or 3, I forgot.
Anyway, LOVE YA 🤍
