Because it had been asked, I delivered ( and also because I wanted to write something soft and warm). I hope you will like.
Damian's pov
Reaching the door at the top of the building, I let out a sigh, tired. The night had been crazy because of this power outage. Thankfully, it had been caused by the storm and not by some bad guy. However, because of the lack of electricity, a lot of accidents happened. Batman and I let those things to the firefighters and the police as we took care of the people who thought it was a good idea to take advantage of the power outage to commit crimes. From burglary to burglary, and some darker attempted crimes in between, the electricity came back but not before I got drenched by the heavy rain.
The dawn was only two hours away when I slipped inside of the building, walking down the stairs to attain Y/n's front door.
She was probably asleep so I just took the key she had given me a few months ago to open it and closed it behind me, trying to be as silent as possible. But as I was about to take off my shoes, I blinked. The front door immediately leading to a kitchen-living room, I was surprised not to find it plunged into darkness, but to be greeted by the warm light of candles burning softly around the room, creating shivering shadows on the walls.
I took my shoes off and started getting out my soaked clothes, my skin getting goosebumps as it made contact with the air. In my underwear, I walked quietly to the bathroom to dump my clothes in the laundry basket before stepping back into the candle-lit room. Reaching the couch, I stopped and smiled.
Y/n was laying on the couch under a soft blanket. One of her hands had slipped out of the cover and her fingers were brushing the handle of a spoon that had been placed inside - what was now - an empty bowl of ice cream on the floor.
I took the bowl and the spoon off the floor to put them in the sink. Unfortunately, the spoon clanged way too loudly in the silence as I put it down. The blanket rustled as Y/n sat, leaning her back on the back of the couch, sleep keeping her eyes half-closed.
"Damian?" she asked, her voice hoarse. She scrubbed the tiredness out of her eyes and blinked, focusing her gaze on me. A smile reached her eyes. "Am I dreaming or are you really in the middle of the room almost naked?" she laughed.
I leaned over the back of the couch, forcing her to lay down again. "I'm always happy when I'm in your dream." I said, kissing her forehead.
She hummed, closing her eyes at the feeling of my lips on her skin. "Well, I always prefer when you're here for real." she whispered, reaching for my shoulders. I slipped - quite ungracefully - over the back of the couch to lay down over her, pressing my elbows from each side of her head, to not crush her with my weight. She did not wait any longer to kiss me, that I returned with eagerness. Playing with a strand of her hair, we gazed at each other, kissing from time to time.
"The power outage'd ended a few hours ago." I said quietly, not wanting my voice to be too loud and break the warm and cozy moment.
"I know." she answered with a soft smile.
"So, why did you keep the candles and did not turn the lights back on?"
She wrapped an arm around my waist, her fingertips dancing along my skin.
"I find it soothing." she whispered. "It almost makes me forget that I lived in the middle of Gotham." She leaned for another kiss that I gave gladly. " And it is a bit romantic, don't you think?"
I could not agree more.
