The group moved stealthily through the dense forest surrounding the fortress, their breaths misting in the cold air. The towering, crumbling walls of the fortress loomed ahead, casting long shadows over the landscape. The lead they had received was fresh, a last-minute tip from a local informant who had spotted suspicious activity near the ruins. Now, the group was on high alert, knowing that every second counted.

"Stay sharp," Hongjoong whispered, his voice barely audible. "We don't know what we might find in there."

Seonghwa nodded, his eyes scanning the area with a sharp, practiced gaze. "We should split up to cover more ground. Wooyoung, Yunho, you're with me. Lisa, Minji, and San, you check the east wing."

Lisa tightened her grip on her flashlight and checked her gear. "Got it. Let's be quick and careful."

As the group moved into the fortress, the air was thick with dust and the scent of decay. The once-grand entrance hall was now a shadow of its former self, with broken chandeliers and tattered tapestries hanging from the walls. The silence was oppressive, broken only by the occasional creak of the wooden floorboards.

"Over here," Wooyoung called, his voice echoing through the cavernous space. He pointed to a small alcove where fragments of old furniture were strewn about.

Yunho approached the alcove, inspecting the remnants. "It looks like they left in a hurry. There are still some personal belongings here."

Meanwhile, Lisa and Minji were carefully examining the eastern wing. "This place is a mess," Minji said, brushing dust from a shelf. "But we have to find something—anything."

Lisa nodded, her flashlight casting eerie shadows on the walls. "We can't afford to miss any clues."

In the western wing, Hongjoong, Seonghwa, and Wooyoung were meticulously searching every corner. "Check for anything out of place," Hongjoong instructed, his voice low but intense. "We need to find something concrete."

Seonghwa moved methodically through a small storage room, shifting through old crates and boxes. His eyes caught something unusual—a piece of fabric snagged on a rusty nail.

"Hey," Seonghwa called, holding up the torn piece of fabric. "Look at this."

As Hongjoong and Wooyoung approached the torn piece of fabric, Wooyoung's heart sank. The dark blue fabric, unmistakably a part of Mirae's dress, lay on the cold, stone floor like a cruel reminder of their pursuit. Wooyoung's normally vibrant eyes were clouded with worry and a growing sense of despair. The grim determination etched into his features was juxtaposed with the flicker of vulnerability that seemed to deepen with each passing moment.

He picked up the fabric carefully, his fingers trembling slightly as he examined the torn edges. The familiar texture felt like a bitter irony; a tangible link to Mirae and yet an equally painful sign of their absence. Memories of their past encounters and the fleeting moments of camaraderie with Mirae and Tate flashed through his mind, mingling with the stark reality of their current predicament. The intensity of his emotions was almost overwhelming, a mix of helplessness and frustration.

Wooyoung's mind raced through the possibilities, each one darker than the last. The fortress, once a potential clue to their location, now seemed like a taunting mirage. The knowledge that Mirae and Tate had been here recently but were now gone was like a heavy stone in his chest. He clenched his jaw, trying to hold back the flood of emotions threatening to overtake him.

His frustration was palpable, but it was laced with a deeper sense of responsibility and a desire to protect those he cared about. Wooyoung's sense of urgency heightened as he looked to Hongjoong, hoping for some kind of plan or direction. The silence between them was filled with unspoken fears and the weight of their shared mission. Wooyoung's resolve hardened as he tried to suppress his feelings of inadequacy, focusing instead on the task at hand. He knew that they couldn't afford to lose hope, no matter how daunting the situation seemed. His determination to find Mirae and Tate, and to bring them back safely, became the driving force behind his every action.
