Yu Haibara pointed his finger out the car and it took every fiber in Nanami's being not to scold his friend.

You see, if it had been under normal circumstances, Nanami wouldn't have cared. Yu was free to stick whatever appendage he saw fit out the window. Except, not when Nanami was driving. Why you may ask?

Because he didn't have a license.

And good boy Nanami didn't want to get nailed with jail time for driving without the proper permits. Naturally though, the student was well aware of how to drive. For crying out loud, Gojo took him out to the countryside often for lessons.

In reality, Gojo just found Nanami's panicked looks hilarious.

But that wasn't the point. Nanami wasn't here because of Gojo. Well, at least . . . not directly. He was here for something a little more dire. Something he was more willing to bend the rules for.

He was trying to find Suguru.

So as he drove the car (trying to blend in with the other motorists), Yu was tasked with keeping his eyes peeled for anyone that looked like Suguru.

Too bad Yu wasn't great with faces . . . and wasn't even remotely close.

"Nanami, are you looking?"

"Get your finger inside the car! Don't offend anyone! We don't need a reason for someone calling the police."

But just in case Haibara had a point, Nanami snuck a quick glance out the window. Needless to say, he was severely disappointed with his friend to see him pointing at a woman pushing a baby carriage.

Well . . . Nanami could give him a point for the lady having black hair . . . he got something . . . this time.

Because his first "found him" was directed towards a blond guy . . . with hair significantly shorter than Nanami's. And then the next one was a bald guy . . . Needless to say, Nanami would be taking Haibara to an eye doctor the second things began to settle down.

"I'm really sorry."

Satoru pried the phone from your shaky hands, uttering a few words to Shoko that were lost on your ears. There was nothing that he could say to calm you down.

There was nothing anyone could say. The only thing that would bring you solace was knowing that Suguru was alright. That he was unharmed and safe.

But every road you explored seemed to be taking you down a completely different path. One which was uncharted and unsafe. However, none of it made sense. There was no way that Suguru would just vanish into thin air.

It wasn't long before you found you had cried most of your tears out. There was nothing more you could expel, even if you tried to.

Gojo's presence was a help. It always was. It was comforting and warm in the midst of all the confusion. And you were going to cling on to it for as long as humanly possible. You needed it.

You needed it desperately.

The reminder that not everyone - everything - was gone. There was something still there. And it was something worth fighting for.

Your head rested against Satoru's shoulder.

"I think I need some fresh air," you mumbled. "It's too hot in here."
