All of the interns were anxiously waiting for the results of the app challenge, all hoping they'd won. Team Lyle had managed to complete it on their bus ride back to Google HQ and get it in just about on time.
Team Lyle were all sat in one of the meeting rooms, the afternoon after the eventful night before. Yo-Yo still wasn't feeling too good, so he was sprawled across the sofa with a small plastic bin clutched in his arms, there just in case he'd throw up yet again.
Stuart was lying upside down on a bean bag and his beanie was covering his eyes.
Neha was sat on a spiny desk chair half asleep, and Lyle seemed to be doing the same. Billy and Nick were also there, but they handled alcohol much better than the younger members of the team and they looked just fine.
Emily was sitting on a bean bag too. She had a small migraine, but nothing compared to that of the others. She was looking at her YouTube page. She had sent the video that Billy took to her music producer and he loved it, saying she should post it right away, and that's what she did, and it was blowing up. She grew up in Texas, and went to College. This was a normal weekend thing for her, so while she might get drunk after a few shots, her hangovers aren't as bad.
"The whole world looks like a giant pinwheel of death right now." Stuart broke the silence with a mumble from his upside down position, his beanie still covering his eyes.
"The price of making memories, Stewie." Nick sighed, Stuart ignored the nickname again, he didn't seem to mind anymore.
"I think my liver hurts." Yo-Yo whined, holding onto the bin even tighter.
"Light weights." Emily snickered.
"Why aren't you dying like the rest of us?" Neha asked her, upset.
"I grew up with an over protective family, in a small town in Texas with nothing to do but party and study. What do you think?" Emily asked her, looking at her phone and all the positive feed back on her song. Well, there was a few comments here and there about how she needs auto tune and stuff, but other than that, it was perfect. "Well, I mean my head hurts like hell but I'm not dying." She told them.
"Damn you." Stuart said and she rolled her eyes, setting her phone down and leaning back. The more she looked at her screen the more her migraine grew.
"Please shut up. I can't stand how appealing your voice is at the moment." Emily told him, and that got a few snickered of amusement out of the half dead team.
"You first." He grumbled out.
"Come over here and make me." She told him, rolling over to get the aspirins out of her bag.
Chetty, the guy in charge, was approaching team Lyle. As soon as they spotted him they all shot up from their lazy positions and waited for what he had to say. Stuart's beanie was still far down on his forehead and his eyes were only just poking out underneath.
"Astonishingly your app received ten times more downloads than any other teams." Chetty paused, and the whole team looked at each other excitedly. "It appears you have won your first challenge."
"Oh thank God." Emily said with a grateful sigh.
"How 'bout it!" Billy cheered and fist bumped Neha.
"Congratulations." Chetty said, still in a monotone voice, he never really showed much emotion. They were all talking about it and clapping until Yo-Yo went and threw up into his bin, which made everyone look at him sympathetically.
"Oh, easy there big guy." Billy grimaced.
"He gets over excited." Nick told Chetty, who looked confused, and patted Yo-Yo lightly on the back as he continued to throw up.
"Lovely." Chetty said sarcastically, not buying it, but not questioning it either and then walked away.
"Let it out." Nick told Yo-Yo who continued to cough and puke in the bin. "Let it out, little feller."
As the day passed the team seemed to be getting better with their hangovers. And Emily found herself getting her usual cookie crumble drink from the people in the cafeteria.
When she turned around to get a table she found Stuart sitting a bit away from her, looking at something on his computer, and typing away. She walked up behind him and say he was on her music video and smiled slightly as she walked around him.
"Like the song? Or are you trolling me?" She asked him and his head snapped up to look at her.
"Oh, um, liking it. Just trolling the trolls. Gotta protect my... yeah." He said to her and she nodded slightly in amusement.
"Okay." She said, nodding along slightly. "Mind if I sit?" She asked him.
"Go ahead." He told her and she nodded with a smile as she did as much.
The two of them sat there in a comfortable silence as Emily scrolled through her video comments. She found where her follower, Bennieboy273, was defending her. It took her a few seconds, glancing between the boy in front of her and the comments before a smile of amusement broke across her face.
"You're Bennieboy273, aren't you?" She asked in amusement and his head snapped up again.
"What?"
"You are!" She said with a slight laugh, seeing with slightly panicked look in his eyes.
"No I'm not." He denied.
"You're a horrible liar." She snickered in amusement, and he leaned back in his chair with a sigh.
"Fine. You caught me." He said, shaking his head as she laughed.
"Well, thank you Mr. Bennieboy273."
"I'm never living this down." He groaned in annoyance.
"Never." She agreed, giggling as she took a sip of her drink, only for Stuart to throw a rolled up napkin at her, causing her to gasp slightly in mock offense. "Hey! You look here-" She broke into giggles, but was determined to finish what she was saying, "You look here, Mr. I won't tolerate bullying of any kind!" She told him and he looked at her amused.
"Is that what I'm doing? Bullying?" He asked, smiling a bit.
"Yeah." She said a bit stubborn with a smile on her face.
"Is that it?" He asked again as she nodded.
The two of them broke into laughter as they started throwing napkins back and forth at each other. Until they knocked over Emily's drink, causing it to spill.
"Shit." They both said, getting up to clean it, only to bump heads when they both bent forward. "Fuck!" Emily said that time as they both grabbed their heads. When they snapped out of it, they started cleaning it up again.
When they were done their hands were sticky, but they both still had smiles on their faces. They walked to the bathrooms to wash their hands before meeting up again outside of them.
"So, we won a task." Stuart started awkwardly. "What should we do about that?" He asked her and she shrugged in faux thought.
"I don't know about us. But I know for a fact I'm going to go up stairs to my dorm and..." She trailed off, whispering something in his ear before walking away, leaving a stuttering and blushing boy behind. "What you do with that information is up to you." She called behind her with a smirk on her face.
It was safe to say he followed her.
