It's been five years since that summer, and a lot has changed with Emily.
For instance, she's graduated and is working full time at Google with her friends. She's written about a thousand more love songs that have blown up all over the world. Oh, and she and Stuart are getting married.
At the moment Team Google, which is what they call themselves now, were all in Texas getting ready for the wedding. And to say that they were just as baffled as they were when time the team came down for Christmas the first year, that would be an understatement. But this time they had to do more than explore, they had to get ready for a Texas wedding.
Emily had to help them condition their stomachs for a Texas wedding BBQ. Because if there is anything Texas is known for, it's their meat. And at a real Texan wedding there are at least 12 different kinds of meat, and in a lot of different forms. Buffet dinners were the usual, and almost everyone always brought something or other to eat.
She had to teach them the Texas two Step, and that had to be Emily's favorite part of the whole thing, watching as her team mates either fell on their asses or just had fun with it. But despite none of them knowing what they were doing they had fun with it, and that's all that mattered.
Having them make the Groom's cake, that was a fun part that Emily loved. She loved watching Stuart argue with her family over why he needed his own cake, and them trying to explain to him what it was, and how it was a part of Texas tradition.
The groom's cake is one of the cherished Texas wedding traditions that usually added a unique touch to the wedding celebration. Of course, the traditional white wedding cake remained the centerpiece of the dessert table, but the groom's cake is just a chance for the groom to showcase his personality and interests with some out-of-the-box wedding desserts.
Whether in the shape of a golf club, decorated with the emblem of a beloved fraternity, or made in the image of a favorite sports team, the groom's cake was always a crowd-pleaser. It was a great tradition that honored the groom, making it known that the day wasn't just about the bride. Plus, it added a fun and unique element to the wedding reception.
And when Emily's dad brought out the shot gun in frustration that the city boy wasn't getting it, Emily finally got in the middle of it as Stuart dived to hide behind her.
"He's crazy!" Lyle said, jumping back.
"Woah!" Billy said, backing up as the rest of them did the same.
"Of course he is, he was born and raised in Texas." Emily said to Lyle with a roll of her eyes, calm as if this was an everyday thing. And it pretty much was.
Grand Entrance. In the Midwest, the Grand Entrance into the reception is kind of a thing. The parents, wedding party, and the couple are announced with a big musical fanfare. Usually there is dancing or the bridesmaids throw their flower bouquets to the groomsman and the Bride to the other women, or bride and groomsmen plan a fun dance for everyone to watch. It's almost always cringy and awkward, and no one ever knows what they are going to do until 30 seconds before it happens, but it's always very entertaining for the guests and sets the tone for how fun the party will be.
And just like every Texan wedding, it would naturally be everyone with in a twenty mile radius of the town. So it would be a very big wedding. And while neither of them were very religious they had their wedding inside Emily's childhood church, because just about everyone went to Church in Texas, no matter what religion or belief they had, they went to church.
