THIRD PERSON POV

as aera stepped inside the huge ballroom where her engagement would be taking place, her eyes landed on sunghoon who was sitting on the spacious white couch at the very front of the room, laughing and talking with heeseung and jay.

the hall was decorated in such a manner that wasn't excessively bright but rather conveyed a feeling of sophistication and elegance. matching with aera's pink gown and sunghoon's white tuxedo, the room was filled with tall and round table stands, some having a bouquet of pink roses and others displaying white tulip bouquets at the centre of the table. the food menu was mostly desserts and bakery items, alongside a bottle of expensive traditional pale gold champagne.

as if feeling her gaze on him, sunghoon looked in aera's direction, sending her a small smile.

aera carefully made her way to the couch and sat down beside him. but before she could have a word with sunghoon, mr.sim took a mic and stood on the left side of the couch beginning to speak.

"dear guests, with an immense amount of love and expectation in our hearts, me and my wife had suggested the marriage between my youngest child and only daughter, aera and the man i had spent my youth with, mr.park and his wife mrs.parks' oldest child and only son, sunghoon, a boy we have always treated as ours. and fortunately, our children accepted our heartfelt wishes. as i stand here, in such a vulnerable and helpless position and time as a father, where i send my daughter under the protection of another man, i must say, i feel so many things at once. i feel delighted and relieved that her fiancé is a man of my choice. however, that doesn't soothe the building ache and emptiness in my heart. my daughter is a very sweet girl and i'm proud of the woman she has become today. and as this moment is tugging at my heartstrings, i ask and hope that sunghoon will keep my daughter happy and her in-laws would treat her as their very own daughter. i shall end my speech here. thank you everyone." mr.sim ended his speech, at the verge of tears, as mr.park patted his best friend's back, an attempt to comfort him, as he took the mic from him and set his foot at the place where mr.sim had stood earlier.

"the engagement ceremony will begin now." mr.park announced.

aera could feel her hands getting colder by the minute, anxiety and nervousness coursing through her veins.

"sunghoon, son, you go first." mr.park said softly.

sunghoon opened the blue coloured velvet box, taking out the ring inside it.

aera's engagement ring was chosen by not only sunghoon but also his family after careful consideration, in exchange of forty-nine million usd. the ring was titled 'the blue moon of josephine', which boasted a beautiful 12.03-carat cushion-cut fancy vivid blue diamond.

sunghoon held out his right hand, the ring in his left one, waiting for aera.

a beat passed before aera put her left hand over sunghoon's palm, his hand delicately holding hers as he slid the ring on her ring finger.

the crowd slowly erupted into loud cheers and giggles before aera grabbed the white minimalistic box, taking out the ring.

sunghoon's engagement ring was specifically chosen by aera herself. she had fell in love with it from the moment she had laid her eyes on it. the centre of the ring was adorned with a rectangular shaped diamond secured by the eighteen karat white gold metal, all in exchange of forty-five million usd.

aera gently took a hold of sunghoon's hand, her fingers working as she slid the ring into the ring finger of his left hand.

the families slowly made their way near the stage to greet the newly engaged couple after mr.park hugged his son and his fiancée.

the ceremony had ended around two hours later as everyone started to return to the comfort of their own rooms.

aera took out her luggage that was previously in her room and stood before the door of sunghoon's suite.

sunghoon, who was standing outside the door, grabbed the door handle and twisted it, the door opening, as he motioned aera to get inside first.

aera quickly got inside their room, her mouth gaping open at the size and decoration of the suite.

"woah! this is lit!" aera gasped and ran towards the king sized bed happily, jumping on the soft mattress.

sunghoon laughed softly looking at how her eyes twinkled as she got up from the bed and looked around the bathroom.

"sunghoon. your bathroom is literally the size of my room." aera glared at him.

suddenly, her heart raced as she realized that there was only one bed. she was going to share a bed with sunghoon.

as if understanding her concern, sunghoon sighed, deciding to speak up.

"yeah, um, there's only one bed... you can put up a pillow between us if you want, i don't mind." sunghoon spoke softly.

"okay, thank you." aera thanked him before quickly making a beeline for the bathroom to shower and change, not forgetting to grab a pair of white coloured silk pyjamas with strawberry patterns in the process.

as soon as aera got out of the washroom, sunghoon got inside.

it was evident that the atmosphere between them had become very awkward, and they were basically trying to ignore the other as much as possible.

sunghoon got out of the bathroom wearing a white t-shirt and grey sweatpants, his hair still a bit wet from showering.

aera suddenly felt heat creeping up her cheeks as her eyes landed on her fiancé. she tried to cover herself with the duvet and put up a failed act of going to sleep, not wanting sunghoon to see her blushing because of him.

however, sunghoon had caught a glimpse of aera's red cheeks before she had successfully turned to the other side in bed, his lips curving into a subtle smile at how adorable his fiancée was.
