Later on, I walked through the cafeteria with a tray in my hand, scanning the room for Eugene. My eyes searched the crowded tables, but there was no sign of her. "Where is she?" I murmured to myself, tilting my head in mild frustration.After a few minutes of searching, I finally spotted her a few aisles away, standing with Jay and deep in conversation. I hesitated for a moment, thinking about joining them, but decided against it. "She must be busy," I thought, nodding to myself as I found an empty table and sat down.
A few minutes passed as I absentmindedly poked at my food, my thoughts drifting. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Eugene approaching my table with Jay beside her. I straightened up a little, surprised to see them together.
“Hey, Jay, I’m sitting with Jiwon,” Eugene said, smiling as she gestured toward me. “I’ll wait here.”
Jay glanced at me briefly, then back at Eugene. He nodded slowly, his expression thoughtful. “Let me call Jake over. He must be waiting for me.”
As Jay walked away, curiosity got the better of me. I turned to Eugene, trying to keep my tone casual. “What were you talking about with Jay?”
