Exactly half an hour later Anni was ready for work, and Magnus banged on the door. She sighed heavily and grabbed her bag. This was going to be a long day.
By the time she got to the door, he was already half way down the corridor. He is really angry at her, she thought. He always yelled, but he had never given here the silent treatment before.
He's going to avoid her all day, then rage at her when she does have to cross his path. She was going to have to hide in the office until she really had to come out.
Mark and Alwyn were already in the foyer, Mark made a face at the old grump as he walked past. He knew something was up this morning, Magnus didn't take either of them on, he just walked past with a face on.
"What happened?" He asked as Anni shuffled towards the door, in absolutely no rush to be stuck in the van with Magus and the awkward tension that was happening. This was her worst nightmare, she knew what he was thinking and she really didn't want to hear what he thought of her little adventure last night.
Anni shrugged at Mark's question, "I'm in the bad books today," she mumbled. She didn't want to have this conversation.
She did contemplate telling him everything and having a right good moan about Magnus but she stopped herself. Not wanting to draw more attention to her little escapade last night. Mark would read way too far in to it, and Anni wasn't sure what it all meant yet, so he'd ask questions she didn't know the answers to.
"Aye, I got that far, what did you do? He's mad mad," Mark stated as he held the door for Anni.
Mark had never seen Magnus so angry at his sister, sure he'd yelled at her before but the steam was pouring out of his dads ears, something was going on and he wasn't gonna get the full story yet.
"I went for a run, I didn't tell him and now he's mad about it" Anni lied.
Mark could tell Anni was lying, he knew her well enough to know she was only telling him a half story.
He wasn't going to push it tho, he knew when to pry in to her life and when not to, this wasn't one of those times. He had a feeling he'd find out soon enough what was really going on.
"Right, so because you left the vicinity he's pissed off about it? He needs to get over the fact you're an adult man, it's getting ridiculous," Mark moaned.
Even he was getting sick of how much Magnus babied his sister. She was a grown adult now, and she wasn't stupid, she could handle almost anything, instead of fighting her he'd just protect her instead, be there if shit started to fall apart.
Anni had heard all this before, Mark and Alwyn had spent years fighting with Magnus about Anni's freedoms, or lack thereof.
Mark knew the old git was protective of Anni, but he really needn't be, she was indestructible, but Mark also knew it wasn't losing Anni physically he was worried about, it was the emotional toll of her growing up, moving on and leaving him that he couldn't face.
He knew Anni wasn't well-versed in emotions or relationships so Mark knew there was no chance of her just walking away at the drop of a hat.
He also knew Anni liked her job, she was comfortable with them so he didn't really have to worry about her going far. She'd worked her arse off to prove to him she could handle the position she had. It had taken years of fights, arguments and yelling for him to even consider her good enough to take on the role she had, even tho Mark knew she was the best at her job.
The drive to the port was tense and very quiet, not even the radio was on and Anni was wincing at everyone's thoughts, especially Magnus' pure anger and distaste for Charli, which was making Anni angry.
