Exactly half an hour later Anni was ready for work, and Magnus banged on the door. She sighed heavily and grabbed her bag. This was going to be a long day.
By the time she got to the door, he was already half way down the corridor. He is really angry at her, she thought.
He's going to avoid her all day, then rage at her when she does have to cross his path.
Mark and Alwyn were already in the foyer, Mark made a face at the old grump as he walked past.
"What happened?" He asked as Anni shuffled towards the door, in absolutely no rush to be stuck in the van with Magus and the awkward tension that was happening.
Anni shrugged at Mark's question, "I'm in the bad books today," she mumbled.
She contemplated telling him everything and having a right good moan about Magnus but she stopped herself. Not wanting to draw more attention to her little escapade last night.
"Aye, I got that far, what did you do? He's mad mad," Mark stated as he held the door for Anni.
"I went for a run, I didn't tell him and now he's mad about it" Anni lied. Mark could tell Anni was lying, he knew her well enough to know she was only telling him a half story.
He wasn't going to push it tho, he knew when to pry in to her life and when not to, this wasn't one of those times. He had a feeling he'd find out soon enough what was really going on.
"Right, so because you left the vicinity he's pissed off about it? He needs to get over the fact you're an adult man, it's getting ridiculous," Mark moaned. Even he was getting sick of how much Magnus babied his sister.
Anni had heard all this before, Mark and Alwyn had spent years fighting with Magnus about Anni's freedoms, or lack thereof.
Mark knew the old git was protective of Anni, but he really needn't be, she was indestructible, but Mark also knew it wasn't losing Anni physically he was worried about, it was the emotional toll of her growing up, moving on and leaving him that he couldn't face.
He knew Anni liked her job, she was comfortable with them so he didn't really have to worry about her going far. She'd worked her arse off to prove to him she could handle the position she had.
The drive to the port was tense and very quiet, not even the radio was on and Anni was wincing at everyone's thoughts, especially Magnus' pure anger and distaste for Charli, which was making Anni angry.
She kept quiet tho, Alwyn was angry at Magnus, Magnus was angry at Anni, Mark was pissed off at Magnus and Anni was quietly furious with Magnus. It was a vicious cycle inside her head.
As soon as they pulled into the car park Anni shot out of the car like a cannon. She all but ran to the office and shut the door behind her. The anger was boiling inside her, it had threatened to spill over.
She'd never been this mad at Magnus before, sure he'd annoyed her, wound her up and she'd been pissed at being told no a few times, but this was different, she was angry, to the point of picking if this was the battle she was going to physically fight him over.
A few deep breaths later, she slumped down at her desk and put her head in her hands. She didn't do anything wrong, so why did she feel so guilty about it?
The day was dragging. At around half 2 Anni's phone pinged up 3 messages, one from Magnus which she ignored, it was asking her to come to the radio room, one from an unknown number, and one from Charli, the number she'd been hoping to see all day.
*Hey, I'm sorry for the late reply, I crashed out when I got to my room. I hope I didn't get you in too much trouble, I'm really sorry if I did. Cx*
Anni stared at the message, mulling over what to reply, like yeh, she was in the worst trouble she'd ever been in from Magnus, but she didn't care this time, she wanted to do it all again. Even with Magnus' wrath breathing down her neck, she couldn't have cared any less.
