"Never, she's gonna die," she stuttered out, "and you can't save her this time"

Anni let go, "nah, you just told me everything I needed to know."

"What? What's going on?"

Anni dragged Charli out of the room, in to the kitchen, she didn't want anyone else to know what was going on yet.

"It's gonna be fine, just," Anni was screaming inside her own head, she didn't want to have to do this, "it's, just, you, how do I say this, you need an abortion."

"What? I'm not, I can't, are you saying I cheated on, because I swear I haven't," she was completely lost, she would never do that to Anni.

"No, baby, I know you haven't, but these fucks killed 6 women trying to perfect this plan, they, I don't know how it works, neither does she but if you don't have an abortion, you're gonna die once it grows I guess."

"When did this happen?" Charli asked, still trying to get it straight in her mind.

"When you were under for the MRI, they implanted the egg from me, into you, and just like all the other women, you'll die, they only took a day to perish, you're lasting all lot longer than they did, but you will die, trying to carry this, according to her."

"Erik froze the eggs, and Rory stole them, no one else knew about them," Anni whispered feeling completely defeated right now.

Charli nodded, still trying to come to terms with the fact she was pregnant and somehow it was Anni's, which made her heart skip, something she'd always wanted but now she had to give it up, tears filled her eyes.

"Baby, please don't cry, I, I wish there was another way, but, but," Anni wrapped her arms around Charli, holding her tight, being careful not to touch her stomach because that would just hurt more.

Charli was wondering in her head, why she hadn't died straight away like the others, she was trying to think of all the reasons, like her connection with Anni, then she remembered something else, something she'd forgotten about long ago, when they first met, when she was young.

"Do you remember, the car accident?" Charli whispered to Anni.

"Yeh? What about it?"

"You accidentally cut my back and your own hand," she said, pulling back to look Anni in the eye.

"Yeh?"

"We have a connection, maybe that's why I'm still alive, your blood runs through my veins, all because we're stupid and we like to," she raised her eyebrows at Anni, reminding her of their weird behaviours when alone in their bedroom.

"Oh? Uh, yeh, Charli I'm not taking that risk," Anni was scared to let this go on any farther.

"Well, I am, baby, at the first hint of anything going wrong, I'll end it, but I wanna try, please?" She begged, pulling Anni towards her.

They were alone in the kitchen, everyone else was still in the lounge.

"Charli, I don't know, this, this is a bad idea," she whispered, not wanting to take this away from Charli, but absolutely not wanting to lose her either.

"Anni, this, this could be our only chance for this, I, I want to keep going."

Anni sighed, "fine, but, the first time I think something is wrong, this ends."

She didn't want Charli to get hurt, and she knew she wasn't going to enjoy the next few months of her life with constant panic and anxiety over this, but she couldn't take it away from her.

Anni leaned against the work top, too scared to move, in fear of hurting Charli, or the baby.

"How do we tell them?" Anni asked quietly, suddenly remembering the rest of their family was probably wondering what the hell was going on.
