2 days they'd been in the hospital, Charli was gaining her strength back more and more. They'd certainly caught the poison at the right time.
"Hey, you okay?" Anni asked, leaning over the bed, she was restless today, wanting to get up.
She still couldn't speak so Anni just read her mind.
"Right I'll call the doc in, let's see if we can get you up, yeh?" Anni said, reaching for the call button.
About 5 minutes later Melody appeared in the doorway, "hello, everything okay?"
Magnus and Alwyn had gone home to shower, so the disappointment was evident on her face when he wasn't in the room, "he'll be on his way back soon," Anni teased.
She blushed, she had enjoyed the past few days with Magnus, he'd brought her a coffee every morning to get office, made sure she'd had dinner, her colleagues had all been asking about the man who was bringing her stuff and hanging around. She'd kept it on the down low since his daughter-in-law was technically her patient.
"Charli wants to stand up, I can hold her now problem, if she's okay with that, and it's safe," Anni asked, she realised that her and Charli were still technically in a 'fight' the first fight they'd ever had.
"That shouldn't be a problem, are you sure you can lift her?" Melody asked, she knew a little more about Anni's powers but Magnus hadn't revealed a lot, he said it was Anni's story to tell. Which she respected, a hell of a lot.
"Aye, that's not the issue, enhanced strength and stamina, can be a pain some days, but real helpful for things like this, I just wanna make sure I'm not gonna hurt her if I help her stand up?"
Melody smiled at Anni, hlshe could see where she got the caring, considerate, respectful parts of her personality from.
"Aye, he's a stickler for consent, to him 'no' is a full sentence, he's not a fan of pushing boundaries, especially people who push mine. I have a thing about being touched, when all you've ever felt if a harsh as fuck, abusive touch from people who were supposed to help you, you tend to run from any touch. So I spent about 17 years not going near anyone, hell, the only person I'd let near me for like a year after was Alwyn, I'm a lot better now, but I still have days I revert back to default," Anni said, hanging her head down, feeling shameful that this is what caused the fight between her and Charli.
Charli was crying again, Anni snapped her attention back to her, "Charli, what's wrong? Are you hurt? Sore? What do you need?"
Inside her own head she was upset because she'd almost forgotten over the past few years that Anni would always be traumatised, she remembered Alwyn's words to her the first night, 'anni will probably always flinch' and Charli had gotten angry at her for reverting back, she shouldn't have become enraged by it, she should have done what she used to do, offer comfort and wait for Anni to take it.
"Hey, don't be stupid baby, I should have told you about the texts instead of keeping it in, and I definitely shouldn't have let it bother me so much that I pulled away from you. Please don't cry, let get you stood up, yeh?" Anni said quietly, she just wanted Charli to be okay.
Anni asked if she was ready, she assured her that she was more than ready to stand up after calming down, Melody unhooked the lines and Anni lifted her off the bed with ease.
She slowly moved her arms to snake around her girlfriends neck, Anni had missed that feeling, it gave her goosebumps, she bit her lip and got Charli in to a standing position.
It felt awesome to be standing upright again, even tho Anni was taking most of the weight, Melody stood in front of them, ready to catch Charli if she were to fall forward.
