Running on the treadmill at full speed, Anni felt a presence behind her, Charli was standing in the doorway to the gym, in one of Anni's oversized shirts, with 2 cups of coffee in her hands.
"Hey princess, you good?" Anni asked, still with the music full blast in her ears.
She turned the machine off and turned to face her girlfriend, Charli handed her a cup, smiling at her.
God she looked so hot when she was working out, or sleeping, or working, or cooking, or just all the time.
Anni took her hand and they headed out to the garden to have their morning coffee, "do you know what today is?" She asked as Anni stretched her arms out in front of her.
"Oh I dunno, what is today baby?" She teased, smirking slightly.
"It's our 2nd anniversary," she said, biting her lip.
Anni had been offshore for their 1st one, away off the coast of Aberdeen. Charli had been on a business trip in the Carribbean.
They'd only managed a video call for that one, but this time, they were together. Both in the same place, for longer than a week at a time.
Being a couple of busy people, with hectic schedules, empires to run, they knew it was gonna be a struggle to get alone time but they both lived for moments like these, sitting together, having coffee, being a normal couple.
"Aye, happy anniversary princess, give me two seconds," Anni said, getting up from the table.
Charli watched her walk away, sighing contentedly.
Two years they had been together now, the happiest two years of her life. They'd moved into the house Magnus had gifted them shortly after the break up with her parents.
Dixi and Mark lived there too, Magnus and Alwyn visited every 6 weeks, Charli had begun to miss them after the first week, so they agreed upon every 6 weeks. They came to stay for a week or two.
Anni and Mark ran the US side of the company along with Russell, she left for a rotation of 2 on and 2 off. Mark usually worked the opposite shifts from her.
Dixi had launched her music career, hitting every billboard spot on her way up. Launching a clothing company, makeup and skincare brand and specialty drinks company. She also created a whole new code for the drills, an emergency shut down to prevent oil leaks in the event of a ruptured drill line, which Magnus was super proud of.
Charli was still a tik-tok icon, becoming the first person to hit 100 million followers on the app, she did a lot of brand collaborations, the clothing and make up brands with her sister. She had also designed 2 new rigs and 1 heavy lift vessel for the company which she was so proud of herself for.
She kept up daily vlogs of her life, Anni refused to be on camera, you heard her voice in some of them when she was home, but she was never on screen, apart from her arm, or hand, or leg occasionally.
Mark was in a lot of Dixi's videos, even appearing in her music videos, Charli was always slightly jealous of that fact but she knew it was safer and made Anni feel a lot better if she kept her face out of the limelight.
All in all, it had been a crazy 2 years to get to where they were, but nothing too mental had happened since the night with her parents.
Ultimately, life was pretty mundane and quiet, which is exactly what Anni wanted and Charli was happy to help provide the safety of normalcy.
"Here," Anni said, handing Charli a gift wrapped box, "hope you like it."
Charli smiled at her as she took the box, "you didn't have to get me anything."
