Chapter 6: Café Interactions

"Y/N!!" Ruggie and Leona yelled. 

Y/n buried his fingers under the helmet of the front most robot. He ripped it off, ripping off the head in the process. The other robot's eyes went red. "Eliminating threat."

Ruggie ran forward, "No! No! We surrender!!" He protected y/n with his body. 

"Take me. Don't hurt him." Leona offered, "Ruggie I leave Savanaclaw to you." Before anyone could say anything else the robots took Leona and their headless comrade away into the sky.

Why can't I do anything?

*Drop*

"ARE YOU INSANE!?" Ruggie rarely raised his voice, yet now y/n found himself being screamed at. "YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN YOURSELF AND US KILLED!" 

Y/n held his tears back staring at the ground. "I— I'm sorry... I just wanted to help..."

Ruggie closed his eyes taking a deep breath, "There's a reason we had you stand back." He had so many questions for Leona: why did Leona leave him in charge? Why did he surrender so fast? Who were the Ferrymen? Why did y/n rush forward like that?

"I can protect myself!" The tears that y/n had held back now burst from his eyes. "I wanna help! I wanna fight too! I'm not a child!!" Ruggie stared at the boy in his arms. 

He sighed, "I know. But you've gotta understand where we're coming from." He grabbed the younger boy's face, rubbing under his eyes. Y/n threw his head ripping his head from the others hand. 

"What? Do you think I can't protect myself!!?"

"Of course not—"

"THAN WHAT IS IT!?"

"I can't stand to see you hurt!" 

Y/n froze, "What?" 

Ruggie sighed, "I can't stand to see you hurt. Just the thought of it makes me sick."

"I— I— I don't understand you." He said closing his eyes. "Why do you care so much!?" Y/n ripped himself from his upperclassmen's warm arms. 

"Isn't it obvious? I love you! Of course I care!" Ruggie sighed, "Let's go back to the dorm."

"You go. I won't just let them take Leona." Y/n looked up where the robot's had disappeared with his upperclassmen in tow.

Ruggie groaned, "What do you think you can do?"

Y/n balled his fists, "Why are you so convinced I can't do anything for myself!?" Y/n's quiet voice grew louder, his voice wavering.

"I—" Ruggie ruffled his hair, "I just wanna protect you! I know you can do shit by yourself! I just— I just..." he sighed, grabbing y/n's hand. "I'm sorry. I just don't wanna be away from you right now. Let's go inside. Leona said to stay here, he put Savanaclaw and you in my care."

"Go. Do your job. I am not a man who can just stand around and wait. I'm leaving." 

Ruggie stopped the younger, "Where are ya gonna go? We have no idea where they took him!"

"All magic leaves a trace. And those robots ran on it, not only that but: Leona is filled with magic. He will leave a trail."

They went back and forth for a long while, Ruggie couldn't convince the younger to stay, so he went to extremes...

"Ruggie! Where's Leon— why are you carrying y/n?" Jack stopped mid comment seeing the h/c haired boy over Ruggie's shoulder. 

"I'll explain everything in the minute." The hyena went into the dorm building ignoring y/n's cursing and yelling.
