I opened my eyes to be greeted by bright sunlight. I glanced at the Mudwings, I could still see him and he looked fine. So they haven't been in the arena yet. Good.
I saw some Skywings flying towards him, 3 large red ones. If not him, then one of the dragonets would be in the arena. I allowed my scales to change to my surroundings and followed the Skywing guards leading the dragonet away. The Seawing also had guards, but unlike the Mudwing, she was fighting back. Clever dragon. I flapped my wings as quietly as I could and followed them into the castle, letting my scales blend into the background.
I landed inside and walked a bit before we reached the throne room. The Nightwing was already there. The Mudwings raced up to him, whispering to him. I stayed at the back walls, circling slowly.
"The Nightwing is trying to tell you that it's rude to talk to anyone else before the queen in her throne room," Scarlet said. "First you bow to me, and then you stay put until I'm ready to address you all. Really, what are they teaching you dragonets these days? It's so very disrespectful.
"Sorry," The Mudwing mumbled. He looked like he was trying to bow in the same way, but he didn't have the small size to fold his wings the same way, or to even crouch that low.
It was quiet. Scarlet was looking at the dragonets as if they were pests, and while I don't like children, I do have to say that these dragonets are incredibly stupid. After a little more silence, I finally heard the Seawing and the Mudwing looked over his shoulder, trying to find her.
Out of all the dragonets, she was my favorite. She was fierce and fought well. The guards put more dragon-proof wires on her than they did the other dragons. Binding her claws, wings, and tail. She was snapping at them as well, so it wasn't a wonder as to why they took so long to get her here. The guards all had wounds as well.
"Well, hello," Scarlet said amused. "We've been waiting for you. I gather you're enjoying your stay?"
"This is an outrage," the Seawing said. "How can you treat dragons this way? Especially us! We're the-"
"-Dragonets of destiny, yes, very thrilling," Scarlet said. "I understand you've been underground for the last six years, so perhaps you haven't heard; not everyone wants this war to end."
The Nightwing shifted. My eyes fell to the Rainwing. She looked asleep, but she wasn't. It was obvious in the way her eyes twitched. I cracked a smile, sliding closer to her.
I didn't listen to anything the other dragons were saying, focusing on the 'sleeping' dragon. I walked up to her side farthest from Scarlet, and poked her in the shoulder. She jumped slightly but was able to keep still, so as not to draw attention.
"Relax, I'm here to help you dragonets escape. You will blink once for yes and twice for no. Now, do you have a plan?"
Two blinks.
"Do you plan to escape at all?" One blink.
"I see, would you like me to help?" One blink.
"Alright then. I have a plan. One of the dragons will have to fight in the arena before I can get you out. When they are fighting, I'm going to get the Sandwing out. If it looks like the battle is going in favor of Scarlet, I'll need you to use your venom. You do know what that is, right?"
One blink.
"Good. Good, well, I'll leave this as it is. I'll be back for you soon,"
As I looked back up I heard both the Seawing and the Mudwing say "Me,"
Tsunami looked at the Mudwing like he was stupid.
"Adorable," Scarlet said with slight annoyance. "But seriously."
"Me!" the Mudwing said. "I'm a great fighter. Put me in."
"You're delusional, I beat you all the time. I'm the strongest of all of us."
"Not all the time! And a Mudwing would be more exciting than just another Seawing, wouldn't it?"
"True," Scarlet said.
"Just another Seawing? How dare you! You know I'm the best fighter!"
"I love your enthusiasm, dragonets. Guards take those two away," She flicked her tail at the Nightwing and Seawing.
I didn't stay for the rest, I already knew the outcome.
