In the midst of sparkling lights,
Where laughter dances on the breeze,
I wear a smile through endless nights,
While masking sorrow with ease.
The world may see a face of cheer,
A joyful heart in every glance,
But beneath the surface, unclear,
A quieter, deeper dance.
Among the crowd, I play my part,
A jester in a grand parade,
While hiding the quiet, aching heart
That yearns for solace, unafraid.
The music plays, the drinks are poured,
The joy is bright, the moments swift,
Yet in the clamor, I am floored
By the weight of what I lift.
Each laugh a mask, each cheer a guise,
A cover for the silent ache,
I dance beneath the starry skies,
And smile for all the world's sake.
In mirrored lights and bustling scenes,
I spin a tale both sweet and bland,
Though inside lie broken dreams,
I play the part with gentle hand.
So let the masquerade unfold,
With shimmering, false delight,
For in this world of bright and bold,
I find a way to face the night.
Amidst the sparkle, joy and jest,
I cling to fragments of the light,
And though the heart may need some rest,
I revel in the starry night.
