The Royal Hunt had always been a grand event in the Seven Kingdoms, a tradition that brought nobles and royalty together in the vast, sprawling forest surrounding King's Landing. This year, the hunt held a special significance, marking the first public event since the announcement of Helaena's pregnancy and the first Hunt after the end of the war amongst the Targaryen. The court was abuzz with anticipation, eager to witness Rhaegon's prowess and celebrate the promise of a new Targaryen heir in the near future.
Rhaegon led the hunt with a confident air, astride his powerful black stalling, his silver hair flowing in the wind. Helaena, ever the stubborn one (something Rhaegon admired more than get annoyed with), determined to partake despite her condition, rode beside him on a gentler mare. She felt the excitement in the air, a sense of adventure mingled with the fresh scent of pine and earth. A contrast to the confinement of the Keep.
As the day progressed, the hunting party pursued various games, their laughter and shouts echoing through the forest. Rhaegon's skill as a hunt was evident; he led the charge with precision, bring down a stag and several boar. Healaena, though not as experienced, enjoyed the thrill of the chase and the camaraderie among the nobles. Helaena also coming to learn so much of her husband and her time away from King's Landing. Of his misadventures that led him to live a life away from anything that came with his name or the crown.
As the evening fell, the party set up camp. Tents were pitched, fires were lit, and a feast was prepared for the day's spoils. Rhaegon sat by the fire with Helaena sitting so comfortably on his lap, her cheeks flushed with excitement, watching Rhaegon as he recounted the chase and the laughs among the nobles. It didn't escape anyone's gaze how Rhaegon's hands were settled both on the swells of his wife's stomach and her hand. The tenderness of his gaze towards her was such a contrast to the Kings that came before him, of Helaena's experience with Aegon and of her mother's own experience with their faher Viserys. Slowly but surely Rhaegon was destroying the cycle without even trying.
When the camp finally quieted, the nobles retiring to their tents, Rhaegon turned to Helaena still in the comfort of his lap, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Do you feel like a little adventure, my Love?"
Helaena's eyes sparkled with curiosity knowing that it wasn't often that her husband would be this adventurous or playful. "What do you have in mind?"
"Come with me," Rhaegon grinned helping his wife up and taking her hand with him. "There's something I want to show you."
They slipped away from the camp, the cool night air wrapping around them as they ventured further into the forest. The moonlight filtered through the trees, casting an ethereal glow on the path ahead. Rhaegon led with a confident stride, his hand firm around Helaena's own
After walking for a while, they have reached a clearing. The air was still but cool, filled with a sense of serene anticipation. Suddenly, a rustling in the bushes caught their attention. Rhaegon motioned for Helaena to stay back as he crept forward, his eyes scanning the darkness.
