Y/N and Clementine were stood on the side of a desolate Virginia road. They had travelled on foot for the most part, since Wellington, but the last six months had been hard for the pair since... since they lost him.
Y/N had spent the last hour chipping away at a rotting tree on the side of the road, using his hatchet to bring the large tree to the verge of falling across the road. They'd decided to get the hell out of Viriginia, keep heading south maybe. There were just too many memories here. All they needed was a car, and bad luck for the poor bastard that crossed the two teens with something they needed.
"Alright, I think that's good" Y/N said sweating and catching his breath, as he placed his hands on his topless hips after tucking his hatchet away. Clementine smiled as she looked at her boyfriend, the sweat glistening off his muscular chest and abdomen, he caught her stare and asked "what?"
Clementine smiled at Y/N with a reddening hue on her cheeks and approached with a familiar glint in her eye, Y/N immediately recognising what that look meant.
"Really, now?" he chuckled as Clementine stepped over to him, laying her shotgun down before she wrapped her hands behind Y/N's head and pulled him down to her for a kiss. Y/N chuckled as the pair kissed again, building in passion before Y/N's head pulled away at the definite sound of a truck approaching.
"Alright we're on" he said as the two separated, Y/N quickly placing his shirt and back jumper on, rolling up the sleeves and placing his crossbow over his head before picking up the shotgun. Clementine huffed in frustration at the truck's timing.
"Stand back Clem" Y/N said as she nodded and stood behind him, Y/N aiming the gun at the weakened trunk and firing. It had the desired effect, the tree collapsing to the road with a resounding groan.
"Is he going to stop?" Clementine asked as the truck kept going forward before slamming its breaks on at the last moment, veering off the road and into a ditch.
"Fuck sake" Y/N sighed. Clementine looked at her boyfriend sadly. He had fallen into such a deep depression since it happened. His despondency came in waves. Clementine's guilt had been horrific over what happened, but she knew Y/N's was all encompassing. She did her best to support him, the way he had done for her for all these years.
"Come on, let's see if we can find anything" she smiled as she reached up and kissed her boyfriend on the cheek. They walked forward quietly from behind the truck, seeing the passenger door open and a man with bound hands slide out, a gun in his hands as he shouted "Hey" at the fleeing driver. They watched the driver turn and run, and Y/N walked forward silently, pushing his glock into the back of the man's neck.
"Fuck. Yeah... alright" he sighed, tossing the handgun to the ground.
"Good. Don't do anything stupid" Clementine said in a flat tone of voice.
"Because unlike you I got no problem shooting a motherfucker in the back of his head!" Y/N added, his previous despondency and apathy replaced with an audible sadistic rage. Clementine had seen more and more of this from Y/N as the months went on, never directed at her, but always present when they encountered a stranger. More times than not it had ended very very badly for the potential threats.
"I'll keep an eye on him, you check the truck" Clementine said to her boyfriend, smiling at him before her face turned cold as she stepped out in front of their captive, Y/N nodding and holstering his gun on his hip.
Clementine walked out in front of the man and noticed he had a Latino appearance, looked to be early to mid thirties, and although athletic was both shorter and much less muscular than her boyfriend. Y/N had stacked on muscle while they were at Wellington, having little to do after he was "retired" and his shoulder had healed than to work out at the gym. He hadn't lost any muscle mass since Wellington, life on the road unsurprisingly physically harsh, and Y/N's adept hunting skills ensuring a high protein diet for the pair.
