No One POV
It had been six years. Six years since they left the keep. Six years since he saw his grandsire. Six years since Jacaerys had seen Maegoryia. It had gone by so slow. He had hoped that she would send letter to him, based off the fact that she would write stories when they were younger and she would have him read them before anyone else, to see if they were good. He missed it. He wished he had seen her over these years, or at least her hand writing. He didn't understand why she never wrote but he decided over the years to never spend too much time thinking on it. Jacaerys was broken from thought when his mother walked into his chambers. He stood up abruptly, not expecting her.
"We are leaving for kings landing soon. Get ready." Is all Rhaenyra said to her son before going to leave as fast as she appeared.
"Woah why? We haven't been back in years and now you want to go back? Why now?" Jacaerys asks, rushing to step in front of his mother to stop her from leaving. He was agitated. Why did they have to go back now? It made him mad, no, it made him furious. He had been asking for years, along with Lucerys, to go back to kings landing. To go back home. Though he wasn't sure if he meant home as in kings landing or home as in the Princess Maegoryia Targaryen.
"Your brother's claim is being questioned and we are going there to defend it. We leave in the morrow. I'm surprised you aren't already asleep. Goodnight my boy." Rhaenyra kissed the top of her oldest son's head before walking around him leaving his chambers. Jacaerys didn't know how to react. He was happy. He thinks. He didn't know for sure. He was happy but he was also upset. He's wanted this for years and now that it is happening he doesn't want it to happen.
Jacaerys Velaryon went to sleep that night while Maegoryia Targaryen had been woken up.
"I didn't want to wake you so late but the queen requests your presence princess." Fleur says the to tired princess who was having a hard time getting out of bed. Fleur helped her put on the robe to cover her white slick nightgown. If Maegoryia hadn't been walking then Fleur would have thought she went back to sleep. The queens doors were opened and Maegoryia thanked Fleur and walked to sit by her mother who was on the couch.
"Why request me in the dead of night mother?" The princess asked the queen who hadn't looked at her yet.
"They are to be here on the morrow." Is all the queen said, but she said it so quietly that it sounded like she was in disbelief.
"Who is to be here mother? Why so distraught?" She asks the woman, growing worried for her mother. The last time she was like this was when she having complications while birthing Daeron.
"Rhaenyra and her children. Alongside Daemon, who she had married. They will be here tomorrow." She repeated and slowly looked at her daughter, seeing her face drop then go back to neutral and turning her head towards the window that held the moon. The moon seemed to be her only source of escape and her only friend in this moment.
"I want you to greet them. As a welco-" before she could finish the princess cut her off by standing up and shaking her head while rubbing her sweaty palms against her sides.
"No. No no no." Is all the princess murmured while pacing in front of the queen who had just looked upon her daughter with sympathy. She felt bad asking her daughter to do something for her when she was never really talked to her anymore. She stood and grabbed her daughters shoulders to stop her pacing as it was driving her insane.
