"White roses, they are classic and stunning," Emine, Desmond's mother and Adriana's mother-in-law, stated holding up the vase before holding up another arrangement, "But then the Orchids are just as lovely and work really well with succulents which you adore."
Sipping the green tea, Adriana nods in agreement sitting beside Emine and the wedding planner in a well-known floral shop in the city. Adriana's mother had passed when she was a teenager and in moments like these, she missed her more than ever before. Emine knew how hard it was on Adriana and had vowed to be there for her through everything, everything in the wedding and in life.
"Snowdrops are another lovely floral," the wedding planner, April, says aloud showing photos on her tablet of previous arrangements, "I know you said you wanted something simple, elegant, yet different. These would work beautifully."
Adriana had loved all the arrangements but was leaning more towards the orchid and succulent combination. Her mother's favorite flowers were orchids, it was not only a beautiful flower but it would also feel like a piece of her would be there with her on that special day.
"I would love to see a sample table arrangement of the orchids and succulents," Adriana says placing her cup down as April nods scribbling onto the tablet. April excused herself to speak with the florist for a moment leaving Adriana and Emine alone.
"You know, you should be planning your wedding before mine, you had gotten engaged long before Desmond and I."
That evening over 2 1/2 years ago, when Desmond and Adriana had met with his mother, stepsibling's, Esme, and his father for dinner in Emine's home, was the same day Desmond had found out his mother was engaged. Not to just any man but his father.
Emine and Desmond Sr. Had married when they were young and had split 5 years after having Esme. Desmond Sr. Never remarried but Emine did. She remarried a horrible man she had never told her family about and adopted his two children when he relinquished his rights to them. Years after she found her way back to Desmond Sr. And it's been the best decision ever since.
"Desmond and I have already done the big wedding," Emine shook her head placing her hair behind her ear, "We're just going to do something intimate, family and closest friends only."
"That's lovely, you know we would actually love th-."
"My first-born son is getting married...there is no way this is going to be something small and intimate."
Adriana shook her head with a smile and a flash of a camera causing her to blink rapidly. April held the film camera from her face with a smile and walked back to her seat.
"You look radiant, just wait till we have all the wedding preparation and wedding ceremony photos," April squeals out, "The florist will work on the arrangements and email me when it is all set. Next on our list today is cake tasting with Emily Bakes and a certain Mr. Ellison will be attending as well."
A blush rose onto Adriana's cheeks as she looked away and Emine's heart felt warm. She could see just how much Adriana loved her son and couldn't have wished for a more perfect daughter in law than her. Not only did she make her son happy and his life better, but she was also a ray of sunshine for the entire family. It was an honor she was becoming a part of it.
The ladies finished their tea, leaving the shop with goodbyes and thank you's. Emine's driver and two bodyguards came around walking the women to the car for their next destination.
That was something that Adriana would have to get used to. At first being the Superiors assistant, she had no need for security or a driver. Now that she has left that job and is becoming his wife, she needed the security. At the time she knew Desmond's family had money, but just didn't realize how much.
