Shadow and the wildcats ventured outside to gather the bodies of the fallen animals. After hours of solemn work, they had buried all of them. As they finished, Speedy approached Shadow with a report.
Shadow: (with a heavy heart) How many did we lose today, Speedy?
Speedy: (somberly) We lost 67 animals, Shadow. But we buried them and paid our respects.
Shadow: (sighs deeply) 67... that's a heavy loss. But we did everything we could to save the others.
Speedy: (nodding) It's a sad day, but we did good here. We'll help this place heal.
Shadow: (determined) That we will, Speedy.
As the other wildcats gathered around, Leo spoke up.
Leo: Should we check on the wounded at the tree tonight or wait until tomorrow?
Shadow: Tomorrow. Let them rest for tonight; today was hard enough for them.
Leo: (agreeing) Yeah, I think that's best.
Shadow: I found a cave where we can sleep for the night. We'll talk to everyone in the morning. Let's get some rest.
The wildcats nodded in agreement and followed Shadow to the cave. Once inside, they settled down in silence, allowing the peace of the night to soothe their weary minds as they drifted off to sleep.
The Next Morning
As the sun rose, the wildcats awoke, refreshed from a night of deep sleep. Shadow addressed them.
Shadow: Did you all sleep well?
Wildcats: (in unison) Yes.
Shadow: Good. Let's go check on the others.
The wildcats made their way to the Tree of Life, where they were warmly welcomed by the Night Pride. As they gathered, Shadow spoke.
Shadow: Good morning, everyone. I hope your recovery is going well. How are they doing, Makini?
Makini: (smiling softly) They all have injuries, but with a week of rest, they should be fine.
Shadow: That's good to hear. We'll watch over this place while you recover. Let's introduce ourselves. I'll go first. What's your name?
Makini: (grateful) I'm Makini, and I'm so glad you're here to help.
Shadow: No problem, Makini. I'm Shadow, leader of the Wildcats. We're from a land far away called Big Cat Valley, but that's a story for another time. We have another member who's not here right now, but you'll meet him soon. Now, I'll go around and meet everyone.
Shadow approached Kion, who greeted him with a respectful nod.
Shadow: And you, young one, what's your name?
Kion: (with pride) I'm Kion, one of the leaders of the Night Pride and the king of the Tree of Life. It's nice to meet you, Shadow, and thank you for helping us.
Shadow: Nice to meet you too, Kion. We're happy to help.
Shadow then turned to Rani, who smiled warmly.
Shadow: And what is your name, my dear?
Rani: (with gratitude) I'm Rani, leader of the Night Pride and queen of the Tree of Life. We're blessed that you came to our aid.
