Chapter 2 The Recovery and Drama

After a week of recovery, the Night Pride was cleared for duty by Makini. As they gathered in the Tree of Life, Shadow and his team arrived to check on them.

Shadow: smiling "Morning, everyone! Looks like you're ready to get back to work. We're almost done rebuilding, but there's still some work left."

Kion: "Yep, we're all good now, Shadow."

Shadow: "Glad to hear it. But before we head out, there's one more thing. We need to do some basic training to make sure everyone's really ready. It's just a precaution—I don't want anyone getting hurt. Fair?"

Kion: "Fair enough. Agreed, guys?"

The Night Pride nodded in agreement. They followed the Wildcats to a training course set up nearby. Upon arrival, they were impressed with the setup.

Shadow: "Alright, everyone, we're doing two tests today. First is the speed test—run around the course and keep going until you hit the finish line here. Let's see what you've got!"

The Night Pride raced around the course, each member pushing themselves to the limit. Once they all finished, Shadow announced the results.

Shadow: "Great work, everyone. Fuli, Kion, Azaad, Rani, Surak, Nirmala, Baliyo, Bunga, Ono, Anga, Beshte—you all passed. Now, let's move on to the strength test. We'll be lifting logs and flipping rocks. We're helping a lot of animals today, so we need to be sure you're up to it."

The group tackled the strength test with determination. Logs were lifted, and rocks were flipped until the test was over.

Shadow: "You've all proven your strength. Looks like you're ready to patrol."

Night Pride: "Thank you, Shadow!"

Shadow: "You're welcome. Now, let's head back and plan our patrol groups."

Back at the Tree of Life, Shadow began dividing the teams.

Shadow: "We've got a lot of ground to cover. The South is done, but the North, West, and East still need work. My team will take the Northern Area. Rani, Surak, Nirmala, Baliyo, Azaad, and Anga, you'll cover the East. Kion, Fuli, Bunga, Beshte, and Ono will handle the West. Any disagreements?"

The Night Pride huddled together, discussing the pairings. When they finished, Rani spoke up.

Rani: "Most of us agree, but Azaad has a concern."

Shadow: "Alright, Azaad, what's on your mind?"

Azaad: frowning "I'm not with Fuli. I want to protect her, and I think it's unfair that you chose the groups instead of Rani."

Shadow: calmly "I separated you and Fuli to ensure each group has a leader, a speedster, and a strong one. It's about balance and fairness. Rani, would you change anything?"

Rani: "No, I would've done it the same way, Shadow."

Shadow: firmly "Azaad, Rani agrees with me. Let's get to work."

Azaad: defiantly "No."

Everyone was shocked by Azaad's behavior.

Shadow: calm but stern "Azaad, don't push me. Fuli can take care of herself. Either drop it, or you're not coming at all."
