Everyone squeezes into Diego's old family van. As he makes the last turn and applies the brakes, the tires screech and squeak.
"Stay behind Five. He's got the gun." Lila says.
When Luther opened the door to the dry cleaners, all of the lights were out and the place appeared to be empty. Walking ahead of the family, Five maintains his guard, surveying the surroundings and taking the initiative.
"Guys!" In a whisper, Klaus says.
"Can't you smell that? This place is a chemical wasteland."You make sure to stay behind your husband and follow Luther and Five nearly the entire way back to the building. You see someone strapped to a chair, their face hidden. When you attempted to approach them, Five pushed you back, allowing Luther to remove the face covering. Thank goodness, it was Viktor.
"Hey, there he is." says Luther.
"Looking good, buddy." Your brother adds.
"Thank God! What's up, Vik?" Klaus says, taking off his gas mask.
"Couldn't make it to your niece's birthday?" Diego asks him.
"Well, I was on the way, and then I got kidnapped, so..."
"Yeah, nice excuse."
"Diego."
"Do you guys wanna untie me, or..."
"Oh, yeah, sure."
"Who grabbed you? Was it Hargreeves and his goons?" Ben asks going to help Viktor. Five shook his head.
"No way. This is amateur hour." He says.
"I apologize if my methods are a little crude, but this is my first kidnapping. And hopefully, my last." The sudden, unidentified voice makes you jump, and you get pushed behind Five again as he points his gun at the man.
"But I need your help." The man says holding up a gun on his own.
"Well, kidnapping our brother and pointing a gun at us isn't gonna buy you much goodwill." Five tells him.
"It was the only way I could make sure that you came here. All of you. I couldn't leave anything to chance. Especially when it comes to... the Umbrella Academy." The man's voice was shaking as he spoke, and you could not help but notice how unsteady his gun grip was.
"No one's called us that in six years." says Diego.
"Sorry, pal. The Umbrella Academy doesn't exist." Five informs him. firmly gripping his firearm.
"Um... Okay, but..." The man splutters as he puts down the gun.
"Okay, but... Just... Can... Can you explain this, then?" He opens the top of a box and takes something out. The headline of the old newspaper article said, "The Umbrella Academy Receives Key to City of Paris, Saves Eiffel Tower." To get a better look, Diego snatches it out of the man's hands.
"Umbrella Academy saves what? When the hell did we save the Eiffel Tower?" Klaus asks.
"Where did you get that?" Viktor asks.
