With the doors sliding open, the subway alert chimes. The distorted voice speaks again, presumably announcing the location, but it was meaningless because it was speaking backwards.
"Come on." She says as she steps out into the station.
"Yucko." she says, looking around.
Looking around, you notice that this station seems more run-down and older than the first one you and Five visited.
"This definitely doesn't look like the first one." You approach your husband, who is writing something down in his notebook. You peer over his shoulder, watching him scribble something.
"Dear diary, why do I always wear suits?" Lila says, also looking over. You rolled your eyes and walked away. Normally, you enjoyed spending time with Lila, but at the moment, she was becoming annoying.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"Leaving bread crumbs. It's a broken vending machine. Stain on the floor in the shape of Australia. Three burnt-out light bulbs."
Ignoring them both, you start up the stairs by yourself.
"Y/n! Wait!" Five shouts rushing after you. Ascending the stairs, you are met with nothing but devastation. There was no sign of life, only smoldering flames everywhere.
"Woah," you murmur to yourself. Five and Lila eventually catch up with you.
"Shows what you know. You must have jumped forward, ahead of time, to the end of the world." Lila says trying to bicker with Five.
"We're not jumping forwards or backwards. We're simply going to alternate versions of now." You say finally understanding what this was about. Five could not help but feel proud.
"Exactly, this is Gene and Jean's apartment." Five pauses making you look back at him.
"What's wrong?" You softly ask.
"I've been here before. This is my apocalypse." He says.
"Your apocalypse?" Lila asks.
"Yeah, the original timeline. I was stuck here for 40 years. This is the timeline where Viktor blew up the moon and we didn't stop it." He explains. You look around again, unable to believe that a thirteen-year-old child could be stuck here for so long on his own. Your heart sank for him.
"Well, this is a very shitty timeline." Lila says.
"Hold on a second." Five says, taking out binoculars from his suit pocket.
"Binoculars? What?" Lila asks. Five does not respond to her, instead emitting an airy flatulence. He removed his binoculars, and his eyes widened.
"Did you just fart?" Lila asks. A gunshot rang out abruptly.
"Get down!" Five shouts pushing you down making you shout. The gunshot bounces off the car as the three duck behind it.
"Who the hell is shooting at us?" Lila asks.
"I am."
"Okay. We need to get out of here." He says. As you attempt to activate your force field, Five intervenes.
"What? we have to get out, no?" You ask.
"Yes, but don't use your powers, he'll recognize you. You're supposed to be dead." He reminded you. You let out a sigh.
"Guess running it is." You say. He nods and grasps your hand.
"Go!" He shoves you in front of him so that his body can shield you.
