"Minato hurry up and get dressed you've got to start school today!" Yukari yelled from the living room. Minato was rustling with something in his room as Yukari walked in to check on him. "Minato what is the hold up?" Yukari asked as she walked in on her six year old son. He looked so much like his father but Yukari had to ignore it and focus on getting him to school.
"Sorry mommy, I was trying get this box opened. I found it inside the garage." he replied. Yukari took a look at the box and recognized it as her husband's storage box. It had been seven and a half years since her husband Makoto Yuki was murdered during the haunting Dark Hour. The Dark Hour loomed over the city of Iwatodai for years before Makoto joined up with a special team of high school students to find a way to reverse the Dark Hour's effect on the normal population. Makoto had given his life to protect his only daughter Maki from the crazed psychopath and leader of Strega Takaya Sakaki. Makoto received a single gunshot wound to his heart as he used his own body to shield Maki from a fatal blow. The whole ordeal was traumatizing for everyone present.
"T-This is... Your father's box." Yukari said as she knelt down. When Minato was just an infant she had gone through the garage and uncovered most of Makoto's belongings but never found the box that her son was now trying to open. The lock on the box required a key but Yukari remembered a strange key that Makoto had left in his nightstand. Yukari left to retrieve the key before getting Minato ready for school. She needed to open the box later since she didn't want her son to be late on his first day of school ever. "I found the key to the box but you've gotta get to school mister." Yukari walked Minato out to their car before taking off to Gekkoukan Elementary School. Yukari wished her son well on his first day attending school as he walked in with a few other kids.
Maki was studying in Tokyo at the same college her father once attended, she and Kojiro managed to get in together as they had started going out together. They waited till their second year before making anything official though. They were on their 2nd to last year of going for their PHD for medical reasons. Maki wanted to be a doctor so she could save those she cared about and those in need. Kojiro wanted to be a teacher and found out that if he had a PHD in the subject he taught them students would have to wait the whole class period before being able to leave. Maki's studies were far more time restricting than Kojiro's but they made their relationship work. They had the weekends to spend time together as Yukari paid for an apartment for them to stay at in Tokyo while they finished their studies before returning home to start work after college.
Mitsuru Kirijo, the original leader of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, also known simply as S.E.E.S. found herself further in the future than she ever thought she would have reached. For the longest while she thought she would either save the world from the Dark Hour or die trying. When they reached the climax of their fight against the Dark Hour she was one of the many voices calling out to her friend Makoto. "Give him strength, take my life if you must!" Mitsuru was willing to give her own life to save the world from the Fall. The Fall was a predestined event that would have caused the extinction of humanity as a species. The being that was meant to bring about the fall was called Nyx, the culmination of every human's desire and longing for the absolute end, death. Now Mitsuru found herself sitting at a desk in an office building in Tokyo looking over old documents when she found a photo she'd not seen in almost 30 years.
Mitsuru gasped as she picked up the photo and held it in her hand. A memory she hadn't ever envisioned before played out in her mind. It felt as if the universe was telling her something. "Aki, look after him. This... is how... it should be..." Shinjiro then lost all his strength as he died from his gunshot injuries he recieved from Takaya. Mitsuru was confused because Shinjiro was alive. "Ah... Could this be him trying to relay a message to me?" Mitsuru asked herself. As she opened the photo book in front of her the very first photo she saw gave her every single clue that she needed.
Mitsuru dropped the photo as she called her assistant to make preparations for her to travel to Iwatodai. She didn't know exactly what she was going to do but she knew that she would need to gather everyone. Not just a few members but this time she would make sure that every single member of S.E.E.S was back in Iwatodai. As she reached the roof of the Kirijo building she pulled out her advanced phone and started making calls either to her agents who could collect some members or directly to others. Kotone, Aigis, Anton, and Fuuka were some that she called directly while the rest were collected by agents of the Kirijo Group. Mirsuru was onboard her private helicopter as it flew to Iwatodai.
Yukari just got back home from dropping her son off at school when she walked into Minato's room and dragged the old box from his room into the living room. She put the key she collected into the lock and turned it. The box popped open as she peered inside. While Yukari had his Evoker on display in their bedroom she didn't expect to see what lay inside the box. Makoto's old Gekkoukan uniform, his S.E.E.S armband and advanced arm protector, and a journal that Yukari had never seen before. As she pulled the journal out from the box she read the handwriting on the front. "Time waits for no-one. It delivers us all to the same end." As Yukari opened the journal she was shocked at everything written inside. at the very top of the first page was written, "Persona 3: Traveling the Multiverse" As she turned the page is read like a book, she realized that it wasn't Makoto's hand writing but that of someone she couldn't quite remember, "As Makoto stepped off the subway at Iwatodai station he looked on with a bit of confusion. 'Huh. Let's see if I can make things right this time.'" Yukari then had a sense of realization. "This journal is from that guy who wrote our story. Is this him trying to relay a message to me about something?" Yukari asked herself as she turned e few more pages, "Persona 3: Fight Against Fate, Persona 3: Era of Madness, Persona 3: Beyond the Mirror" As Yukari skimmed through each story she realized they were perfectly accurate to her own life. She turned to the final story, "Persona: Rise of a New Wild Card" Yukari started reading as she realized it was about her daughter. "You wield a power that your father once held, you have even more power than he did actually. Perhaps you can be the one to alter his own fate" Yukari had read some dialogue that Igor had said to Maki.
A knock was being held at the door as Yukari stood up and opened the door. Outside left her in complete shock. Mirsuru, Akihiko, Kotone, Shinjiro, Ken, Fuuka, Aigis, Anton, Maki, Kojiro, Lance, Minerva, Junpei, Chidori, everyone in S.E.E.S. was outside the door. "Everyone? What's going on?" Yukari asked as they all enterd the house and gathered in the living room. It was a little packed but everyone was able to have some room as Mitsuru explained what her theory was.
"I believe we may have a means of altering the past to an extent. Perhaps not going back in time but rather bring someone forward. I think that we might be able to bring Makoto back." The room was left in complete silence as everyone took in what Mitsuru just suggested. Nobody spoke a word for a decent amount of time until Yukari broke the silence. "I found this journal in one of Makoto's old boxes, I guess we never searched everything fully but it was inside the box. It's not Makoto's, it belonged to the man whose writing our story as we speak." Mitsuru and Aigis suddenly had their memories jogged as they remembered as well. "In one of the stories this guy named Igor had told Maki that she may have the power to alter Makoto's fate." Everyone was once again left at a loss for words. They just might be able to prevent Makoto's death from happening, or at the least bring him back to life.
