"Very strong name if you ask me." Selena continued. "Ark Clementine- sounds poetic even."
They arrived at a London styled gate; Selena rolled down her window and put almost half of her body out the car to press on the intercom button beside the gate.
"Yes. Mister Clementine, It is me Selena." Something muffled came back through the intercom, but Selena understood. The gates opened and they entered and met with the beautiful view of the grey brick house. It reminded Juniper of the British country houses she had seen in Jane Austen film adaptations.
"Breathtaking." Muttered Juniper in amusement, she had only seen the house from afar when she was still a teen, then the place was covered in vines and moss, damaged by the years of rain and no maintenance. It still adorn vines but now they were tamed and pruned.
They made their way to the doors and Selena knocked three times before opening the door herself. Once inside, Juniper was taken aback by the sophisticated yet dark interior. Unique decor and paintings adorn the home. Still standing in front of the door Juniper admired all the paintings and sculptures with an open mouth.
A tall man emerged, he leaned his body on a solid black walking stick that strapped around his elbow to distribute his weight. His shoulder length brown hair disheveled but fell beautifully shaping his already strong masculine face and full beard that needed some trimming.
Years back she read an article online highlighting the fact that he had gotten into an automobile accident and after that she couldn't find any new interviews of his, everyone in the media presumed it was because he was left with a horrific scar that fractured his ego, but now Juniper could see; His hip had been fractured and needed a walking stick to hold himself up properly. For a man with such arrogance and ego that might as well be a great hideous scar.
Juniper's heart sank when she wrapped her mind around it, her favorite author was standing right infront of her. And was way more attractive in real life than in those youtube videos, just a little bit more uncapped but the bear did look good on him.
"Mr. Clementine! I've brought you a girl I believe could make a great difference in your day to day," Selena broke the silence, she sported her typical smile, all her pearly whites showed.
"Juniper, This is Ark Clementine. Mr Clementine, this is Juniper Dun." Juniper extended her shaky, nervous hand for a shake. He looked her up and down, his expression was that of disinterest. After his eyes were finished wondering about her being, he turned to Selena ignoring Juniper's extended hand.
"She looks young." His deep voice rang out "and inexperienced." She remembered his voice being the epitome of sexy when she heard it in those interviews, but in person, when he spoke it was like a shock of thunder driving through her system.
"She used to work in a corporate building as a P.A in the big apple and as a waitress; I am sure she can help you manage most of your issues around here." Selena lied. Juniper was a secretary not a Personal assistant and she washed dishes in a small business, she was not handling customers. But there was no need for correcting, if it meant that she would work alongside her favorite author.
"I specifically told you to bring me an experienced male." He continued, irritation tinted his words.
"Well, I am experienced, I'm just not a male." Juniper chirped excitedly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr Ark Clemintine. My name is Juniper Dun but you are welcome to call me Pie." She extended her hand once more but when she saw that the same scenario was going to play out again she grabbed his hand with her other and forced him to shake hers.
His eyebrows furrowed and his green eyes darkened, she was strange and too upfront for his being.
"Give her a week or two. I've known her since she was a small child, she is a talented girl." Selena advocated.
