The boy ran. He ran and ran. He still had his father's blood on his hands. How could this happened? I thought he was getting better? What did I do wrong?
He broke into tears as he was running.
Why? Why me? I just want to live a good life... Maybe I need someone to talk to... Clementine.
Barry wiped his stained tears off his face and checked the time on his watch. 9:59. Two more minutes. He started running to the park. He ran as fast as he could, with all the leftover energy in his body. He's drained. He's tired of all the bad things happening to him in his life. What did Barry Williams do to deserve this? Absolutely nothing.
10:00. One more minute. One minute early. Barry stood from a far distance of the park. He could see his Clementine sitting at the bench, holding a red dahlia in her hand. From afar, Barry could see her smiling. Oh, that beautiful, infectious smile.
No, this is a mistake. I can't make her worry about me. She's happy. She's finally happy again, and I can't be a burden to her...
Barry stood there, deciding where else he should go, what else he should do. 10:01... Barry saw Clementine stand up from the bench and look around. Her eyes eventually landed on Barry. She waved to him, but Barry didn't wave back. He shook his head, left to right, and ran away into the darkness. The girl scrunched her eyebrows in confusion. Did something happen to Barry? I must see if he's okay...
The boy ran to the nearest store. Yes, he was planning to steal. Not just steal, he was planning to destroy. Since his life was being destroyed and teared apart bit by bit, he was going to destroy other people's lives. He grabbed a nearby rock and threw it through the pane of glass out of anger. He ran through the opening of the pane of glass and yelled at the cashier, "Give me everything you have!"
"What? Kid, what are you doing? It's ten o'clock at night! People are sleeping."
"Give me all the money, now!" Barry yelled. His tears were visible from the light of the moon. His hands were still covered in blood, and it was smeared onto the rock he was holding.
"Barry?"
The boy turned around. He dropped the rock on the floor. It was Clementine, she followed him.
"Clementine, why are you here?" Barry asked as he rubbed his tears away.
"What are you doing, Barry? Are you okay?"
"No! I'm never okay! My father just died, I'm living on the streets, my life is broken apart, and I don't know what to do!"
"Oh Barry. Let me help you, you don't have to make this mess—Barry, behind you!"
Barry turned around to find the cashier with a bat raised high. Then everything turned dark. Barry Williams was knocked out.
**********
Barry slowly opened his eyes. The first thing he felt was a huge purple bruise on the top of his head. The first thing he saw was a cobblestone ceiling. The first thing he could smell was the scent of trash. The first thing he could hear was a bunch of yelling and screaming.
"Where am I?" Barry said to himself out loud.
"Jail," A mysterious deep voice answered.
Barry immediately sat up. He saw a group of bars surrounding him, a toilet full of disgusting waste near the bed, and hundreds of white tally marks written on the walls around the cell.
"This cannot be real. I can't be here!"
"Don't worry, kid. You're only be in here for the rest of the night."
