Tall girl

Being a midget at school had it's up and downs. Ok, more like just downs. Everyone seemed so amused with my littleness, and it got annoying. People stare enough just by being the new girl, but a midget? They were all over me, in a bad way! I still wanted to be friends with that tall girl, but I'm sure she was a star athlete who laughed at a shorty. Or maybe I would get lucky and find another midget in this school , no, from the way they react I know midgets are new to them. Plus, they would had told me to go find whoever the midget was. Math was next, actually, Calculus 2 was next. Yeah, I'm small, but hey, I won't lie, my brain is pretty big. In this class I saw fairly normal people, since this was a smart people class. I saw multiple nerds, shorter nice looking girls, and to my astonishment- the tall girl. She was smart, that was a good sign if I wanted to be her friend. We sat right next to each other in this class.

"Hey, we have two classes in a row together!" the tall girl smiled

"Yeah, I guess we do" I replied

I loved her enthusiasm with things, and I loved her already. But I wasn't dumb enough to think that 9 words meant BFF. Calculus was super was easy, I had taken the online course over the summer. But this meant I had to go on a bus to a college for this hour soon. Because the school didn't offer my extreme level of math. Which is actually pretty sad, since I'm not really that smart- honest.

I was happy to get out of the class when it was done. I had a very simple third hour and got ready for lunch. I had brought a lunch, and now for the worst part of a first day. Where to sit at lunch. I saw Mae with a group of popular kids. She was lol ing like she had always known them and they were BFFs. I went to sit next to her, but she looked up at me and then looked down. There was no seat for me, and I was aware of that.

I saw the tall girl in the corner of the lunch room at her own table. People were laughing at her. Trust me, I didn't want to look like a first day nerd. But I saw the tall girl, and I liked her. So I just sat down next to her. She looked up-

"Hey."

"Hi, is it ok if I sit here?" I asked

"Yeah. It's just no one ever sits with me." she said sadly

"Oh sorry about that" I said

" No, actually it means a lot to. But you know you don't need to be my friend because you feel like it's the right thing to do" she said

"I want to be your friend. Your the only one who has been nice to me. Believe it or not, my best friend is here. But it looks like she already found a new best friend. I went to sit down with her, but there was no seat and I knew I was not welcome." I confessed looking at my lap.

" No mean to be prejudice, but is the shorter girl with the strawberry blonde hair your uh- friend? See the girl next to her- light blonde hair- she used to be my best friend. Until last summer, her hair turned the blonde from the sun. The next school year, the blonde-e committee took her in. Anyone who is blond goes there, look at them. Us brunettes are just trash to them. I'm sorry about your friend, not to get you down, but you probably won't get her back" tall girl told me.

"So that's why they like her and hate me? Because shes blonde? I should dye my hair blonde" I thought out loud.

"Yeah, the only like people like that. Blonde hair- blue eyes" she said

"Oh, so I need color contacts too?" I asked

"Well- yeah" she replied.

"Ummm, isn't that kinda like the nazi's?" I asked questionably.

"Omg, yeah, I never thought of that." she said, truly wowed.

So this was what it was like. The popular girls were only looking for blonde hair and blue eyes. I was not meeting that criteria, I was brown hair brown eyes. I considered ganging up all the brunette MUDs, by I was not discriminative like they were. So was tall girl my friend? Well, to me she was, but who knows what I was like to her.
