"A recent tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College has left me shattered. As I write this, I'm filled with tears and a deep sense of sorrow. The brutal assault and murder of a young doctor has highlighted the harsh reality of women's safety in our country.

_Be Bold, Be Safe_

I want to address my female readers directly. Please, always prioritize your safety. Be aware of your surroundings, trust your instincts, and never hesitate to speak out. Carry pepper spray with you, and know how to use it. It's a small but powerful tool that can help protect you in moments of danger.

Sadly, many of you face harassment and violence in schools, colleges, public transport, and even in your own homes. It's unacceptable.

The young doctor's murder was a horrific reminder of the dangers we face. She was sexually assaulted, murdered, and left in a seminar hall, a place meant for learning and growth. The brutality of her killing is a stark reminder of the darkness we must confront.

I'm shaken to my core, thinking about the struggles she faced in her last moments,  and also  to become a doctor in a country where seats are limited and competition is fierce. And then, she was taken away from us for the sake of temporary pleasure. It's not just her death that's tragic, but the fact that we're living in a society that normalizes such heinous crimes.

_Don't Normalize R@pe_

Let's not blame the victim or justify the act. Let's not say 'she was wearing this' or 'she was out at that time.' No, let's not normalize rape. Let's call it what it is - a brutal act of violence and power.

I'm reminded of our ancestors who fought for independence, hoping for a better future. But here we are, still fighting for basic rights and safety.

_To the Men_

And to my male readers, I urge you to be allies in this fight for safety and respect. If you witness any form of harassment or violence, please don't just stand by and stare. Use your voice, intervene, and offer support. Remember, your silence can be complicity.

Respect women's boundaries, listen to their stories, and believe them. Be mindful of your own privilege and use it to amplify the voices of those who are marginalized.

_Teach and Learn_

Please teach your younger siblings, cousins, and friends about safety, consent, and boundaries.  Let's break the silence and shame surrounding violence against women.

This world is not always kind, so let's become strong and fight for ourselves. Because, in the end, we're all we have."

I've lost hope in our judiciary system, which seems to delay or neglect cases, prioritizing the accused over the victims. It's a system corrupted by power and money, leaving us feeling helpless.

My heart goes out to the victim's parents and loved ones, who must be going through unimaginable pain. The thought of her last moments, struggling for life, is too sad to bear. And yet, we know that everyone will blame us, the victims, for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

But I want to tell you, my readers, that we can't give up. We must learn to protect ourselves, as we're the only ones who can. Be brave, be aware of your surroundings, and trust your instincts. If something feels off, prioritize your safety above all else.Thats all I can see . 💔
