Percy's only thought was: AGHHAGHAAHHH as he was falling from a 200 meter drop off St. Louis arch.

He raced towards the river. The skyscrapers, cars and bridges all blurred as he pasted them. Air was trapped in his lungs before he splashed into the river.
As that occurred he was sure he was going to be embedded mud fifty meters below surface, for at least forever. But instead he slowly floated to the bottom unharmed by the impact.
A catfish the size of his stepfather swan by, along many other species of fish. Percy felt comfort for the first time in a long time. That was until beer bottles, plastic, paper, coins and other rubbish swirled around him.

At that point, he noticed a few things. One: his injuries from the chimera had gone and his body felt healed from the poison. Two: he wasn't wet. He could feel the water, his clothes had been extinguished yet when he touched his shirt he was perfectly dry.

Percy grabbed an old lighter and lit it. 'No way' he thought, a flame at the bottom of the river. He grabbed a soggy McDonalds hamburger wrapper and it turned dry. He brought the two items together and the paper lit up with no problem. When he released the paper its flames spluttered out.

Four: he was breathing, he was breathing underwater. No normal kid would be able to do that, but then again he's no were near normal.
He took a minute to take in this weird moment until he heard a voice in his head, his mother.
'Percy what do you say'

'Umm thanks' his words echoed and reminded the boy of his voice on a recording. 'Thank you...father' his words echoed yet again and he got no reply, just rubbish floating around him.

He questioned why Poseidon saved him and the more he thought the more ashamed he felt. He felt as if he never stood a chance against the chimera. Those poor people are probably toast.

Theadora's words rung in his ear 'You came on the quest to be a hero, so be a hero.' Percy felt like no hero, he should just stay in the river and evolve into a fish.

As he was about to give in a light floated towards him. He reached out for it realising its Riptide, 'take the sword Percy, your father believes, the child of death believes, they all believe' the same voice rang through the water.

"Where are you?" He called, his voice echoing throughout the river.

He looked around and a woman approached. She was like a ghost, she floated towards Percy. Her hair was a midnight black and her eyes were a sea green, her resemblance between her and Sally Jackson was remarkable.

Percy felt a lump forming in his throat "mom?"

"No child of the sea, your mother's fate isn't as hopeless as you believe, go to Santa Monica beach."

"What?" He questioned

"Before you reach the underworld, Go to Santa Monica beach. Your father awaits."

"But-" Questions ran through his mind "Who....How-"

"No time for question brave one, don't trust any-" Her voice faded and her image flickered. Percy had even more questions, he shouted for the lady but she didn't return.

He looked at Riptide, "You came on the quest to be a hero, so be a hero." The daughter of deaths words rang through his ears as he grabbed the hilt of his sword. He kicked himself up and swam.

Percy walked out of the river next to a floating McDonalds.
A block away every emergency vehicle in St Louis was surrounding the arch.

"Look mama" a girl called "that boy walked out the river"

"That's nice dear" Her mother replied paying no attention.
"But he's dry"
"That's nice dear"

Percy walked past a woman who was talking for the news, "Probably not a terrorist attack but survivors have reported that they seen a boy falling from the arch, and a girl disappear"

Theadora he thought, he left Theadora on the arch alone with chimera. He hoped she was ok.
He walked faster and pushed his way through the line of police and crowd. He searched for his friends but failed.

"Jackson!" He heard a girl scream in a mixture of anger a relief. He turned around and saw Annabeth, Grover and Theadora. They approached me and Theadora pushed me and then grabbed him. He thought he was going to hit him but she pulled him into a hug. "I thought you died," she whispered

As she released Percy from her embrace, Annabeth looked angry at the boy "we can't leave you alone for five minutes?"
"I sorta fell"
"Yeah, 200 meters" Grover bleated

Behind the quartet, a police shouted "gang away" and the mother of the little boy was rolled out on a stretcher. "The chihuahua was fire breathing" she was saying "a girl she was like the devil she killed it and disappeared"

Theadora frowned "it's ok mama your medication is starting to kick in" the paramedics assured

"I'm not crazy there was a devil girl, and a boy who jumped." Then she saw the pair "there they are now"

Theadora grabbed her friends and pushed them through the crowd. When the got out of sight, they stopped "Percy what happened" Annabeth asked in concern

He explains the river and the lady "whoa" Grover sighed "we can't ignore summons from your dad"

Before any of the could say a reporter spoke "that's right America, in fact it was Percy Jackson the twelve year old runaway, who blew up the arch. But who was the girl, a sister, cousin, friend, girlfriend. That's question still stands"

"We need to leave NOW." Theadora said sternly

The group made it back to the Amtrak train without getting spotted. The train set off for Denver, and the sounds of sirens faded behind it.
