Gladiola the poodle told the quartet that there was an Amtrak train heading west. After two days on the train, there were no monsters but Theadora and Percy still felt off.

They tried to keep a low profile since Percy's name was splattered across every newspaper.
There was a picture of him holding a metal bat by the bus they exploded with Theadora beside him and the other two behind.

"Don't worry" Annabeth told him "mortal police won't find you" but she didn't sound so sure

Percy kept it pacing around, probably because he can't sit still or staring out the window.

Percy saw a family of centaurs galloping around some wheat fields ready to hunt their next meal. He saw a baby centaur the size of a second grader, who smiled and waved at him. Surprisingly, he waved back and looked around but non of the adults noticed. Instead their heads were stuck in their laptop screens.

Their reward money from Gladiola had only been enough to purchase a train to Denver. They couldn't afford sleeping cabins so they slept in their seats.

Annabeth and Grover slept while Theadora and Percy had a conversation about their quest. During this time, Grover kept bleating and tossing his fake shoe off. The two awake had to stick it back on.

"So" Theadora said readjusting her position "who do you think wants our help?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well we have been having the same dreams, have we not? And plus you talk in your sleep as well as you drool Jackson."

Percy gulped "you think it's your father?"

"No way" she whisper-yelled trying not to wake the others "He wouldn't do that and he doesn't sound like that. The voice said something about me loyalty to the gods."

"That includes your father," He finished "Who else could it be."

"I'm not sure but this mystery person has stolen something from my father as well. I mean the furies were asking for something and asking how u betrayed my father."

"So now what we still go to the underworld?"

"Yes I can reason with my father" she readjusted Grover's cap

"Annabeth was saying how she run into the furies before, do you know what she's on about?"

"I...that's not for me to tell but she has no love for the furies as much as you do" she sighed

"What about you, how do you feel about them"

"Well I'm not a fan of them, but they can't exactly hurt me. My father would never allow that."

"Makes sense," he looked out the window

"You can't tempted to make the deal for your mom" Percy looked back at the brunette

"What if it was your mom?"

"I'm not sure, she died when I was one. I barely remember her but making deals with gods are dangerous Percy."

"What do you remember from before camp," he asked

The daughter of the dead thought for a moment "I remember a warm smile from her. Sometimes I get dreams of her and my family but it's all blurry like a lost memory"

"Family? Like siblings?"

"I remember a girl holding me, she is carrying me into a place, it's covered in pink lights. She was holding hands with a boy. Sometimes I hear voices when I'm struggling, like people calling my name"
