It was Annabeth's idea to catch a cab.

They loaded themselves into the back of a Vegas Cab, as if they have money."Los Angles please" she said

The guy raised an eyebrow, "that's miles away, you gotta pay upfront."
"You accept casino cards" she asked and the man nodded. She handed him the card and he swiped it, the screen flashed green with an infinity symbol.

"Oh where to you highness" he handed the card back and Annabeth leaned back. "Santa Monica pier" she said. "Get us there fast and you can keep the change" she told him.

The driver started to speed off "so, where these debit cards come from?" Theadora asked

"The bellhop, remember?" Percy reminded her
"Oh yeah"
They talked for a while, mostly about Percy's dreams.

"We were in there for five days?"He said oblivious

"Yes" she replied with attitude

"But it was like a few hours" He said in an arguing tone

She sighed "It's some lotus trick, Perce. I don't make the rules"  she rolled her eyes.

"So we like practically traveled in time, Right?" The son of Poseidon said clueless

"Oh my gods" she muttered "You know what Jackson, if that gets you to shut up, yea sure we traveled in time" The daughter of hades had given up with Percy

'He is a lost cause' She thought.

At sunset, the taxi dropped them off and Santa Monica beach. It looked exactly the same L.A beaches look in movies, it just smells worst. There were long lines for the rides on the pier, homeless people and even surfer dudes, waiting for the perfect wave.

The quartet walked to the edge of the surf. "What now?" Grover asked.
The pacific was turning gold in the golden setting sun. Percy thought about how long ago he was stood at Montauk, on the opposite side of the country, looking at a completely different sea.

How could a god control all that?

Percy stepped into the surf, "what are you doing?" Annabeth asked.

He kept walking until he went underwater, Annabeth was about to go after him but Theadora stopped her, "He knows what he's doing."

Percy continued into the ocean and felt something against his leg. It was a two foot long shark, it wasn't attacking him though. More like nuzzling him. Percy petted its fin, and it came closer like it wanted him to hold on so he did.

It took off pulling him into the darkness. It too him to a sand bank where there was a big chasm. Like standing on the edge of the grand canyon at midnight. The surface shimmered and Percy wondered how far down it goes.

"Perseus Jackson" a voice spoke, the lady came out from the chasm, it was the same one from the river. "Well done, you've come far"

"You're the woman from the river" he spoke a little muffled.

"Yes, child. I am a Nereid, a spirit of the sea. It was not easy to appear so far upriver, but the naiads, my freshwater cousins, helped sustain my life force. They honour Lord Poseidon, though they do not serve in his court?" She spoke
