I woke up to the soft light of early morning filtering through the curtains, bathing the room in a warm, golden glow. For a moment, I simply lay there, feeling the gentle rise and fall of Max’s chest beneath my head. His arm was draped loosely around me, holding me close as if even in sleep, he was unwilling to let me go. A smile tugged at my lips as I tilted my head up to look at him. He was still fast asleep, his features relaxed, almost boyish in their peacefulness.
The events of the previous night played through my mind, and I felt a warm flush spread through me. Max had been everything I’d ever wanted gentle yet passionate, tender yet commanding. He’d brought out a side of me that I didn’t even know existed, a side that craved him in a way that was almost primal. And as I lay there, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath my ear, I knew that I was exactly where I belonged.
I carefully extricated myself from his embrace, not wanting to wake him just yet. As I slipped out of bed, the cool air kissed my bare skin, sending a small shiver through me. I grabbed the robe hanging on the back of the chair and wrapped it around myself, the soft fabric comforting against my body. The room was quiet, the only sound the faint hum of the city outside, and I relished the peacefulness of the moment.
Padding softly across the room, I went to the window and pulled back the curtains a little more. The view was stunning, the city spread out before me, bathed in the early morning light. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting long shadows and turning the sky a brilliant shade of pink and orange. It was one of those perfect moments, the kind that made you stop and appreciate the beauty of the world.
As I stood there, watching the city come to life, I heard a soft rustling behind me. I turned to see Max sitting up in bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. His hair was tousled, and there was a slight smile playing on his lips as he looked at me.
“Morning,” he said, his voice still rough with sleep.
“Morning,” I replied, feeling my heart skip a beat at the sight of him. Even just waking up, he was devastatingly handsome, and the way he was looking at me made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world.
He patted the space next to him on the bed. “Come here.”
I didn’t need to be asked twice. I walked back over to the bed and slipped under the covers, snuggling up next to him. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close, and I sighed contentedly as I rested my head on his chest.
“This feels nice,” I murmured, closing my eyes and letting myself relax into his warmth.
“It does,” he agreed, his voice a low rumble in his chest. “I could get used to this.”
His words sent a thrill through me, and I couldn’t help but smile. “Me too.”
We lay there for a while, simply enjoying the quiet intimacy of the moment. There was no rush, no need to be anywhere or do anything. It was just us, wrapped up in each other, and it felt perfect.
After a while, I felt Max’s fingers start to gently comb through my hair, the motion soothing and affectionate. I let out a small hum of contentment, turning my head slightly to press a kiss to his chest.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked softly, his fingers still playing with my hair.
“Just how happy I am,” I replied honestly. “How perfect this moment is.”
He let out a small chuckle, the sound vibrating through his chest. “You’re making me sound like some kind of dream.”
“Well, you are,” I teased, lifting my head to look at him. “At least, you’re my dream.”
