_____________________________NEXT DAY
The next day, the atmosphere in the room was thick with tension as Haseena and Karishma sat waiting.
Moments later, Johan and Kabir entered, leading a handcuffed Zayd. His face was a mixture of defiance and exhaustion, his eyes were scanning the room with a wary look.
Haseena’s eyes locked onto Zayd as Johan and Kabir led him into the room. Her gaze shifting to Johan and Kabir, who stood at attention, awaiting her command.
"Wait outside and stay alert!", she instructed, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Her eyes briefly flicked to Zayd, gauging his reaction, before returning to Johan and Kabir. "If he tries anything suspicious," she added, her voice dropping slightly as the threat hung in the air, "don't hesitate to act."
Johan and Kabir exchanged a quick glance and Johan gave a small, respectful nod, acknowledging her orders and left the room, closing the door behind them with a firm click. The silence that followed was oppressive.
Haseena stood up and walked to the far side of the room, putting distance between herself, Karishma and Zayd. She leaned against the wall, crossing her arms over her chest. "Just pretend I'm not here," she said, in a low voice.
Zayd, seated across from Karishma, let out a rough laugh, his voice dripping with disdain. "Mujhe kisi bhi sawal ka jawab nahi dena hai!", he announced, his tone defiant.
Karishma remained unfazed by his hostility, responded immediately, "Main tumse koi jawab mangne bhi nahi aayi hu."
Zayd’s eyes narrowed in suspicion. "Toh phir yeh mehfil kyu sajai hai tumne?"
Karishma’s voice was calm, almost gentle. "Bas ek sawal puchne ke liye..."
Zayd’s face hardened. "Mujhe kisi sawal ka jawab nahi dena hai," he repeated, his voice laced with frustration.
Karishma leaned forward slightly, her gaze steady and she asked, "Tumne attack kyu kiya?"
Zayd scoffed, his eyes flashing with contempt. "Huff... haha, lagta hai chot tumhare haath par lagi hai, par asar dimaag pe hua hai... hahaha..." His laughter was cruel, echoing in the small room.
Haseena, standing against the wall, clenched her fists tightly. Every fiber of her being wanted to lash out at Zayd for his disrespect, but she held herself back, her promise to Karishma restraining her. The effort to stay silent was evident in the tension in her posture.
Karishma, however, remained composed. "Lagta hai tumne mera sawal nahi suna. Koi baat nahi, main dubara repeat kar deti hu—tumne attack kyu kiya?"
Zayd’s smile faded as he leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms defensively. "Isn't it obvious, Ms. Bodyguard? It was to kill your boss."
Karishma didn’t flinch. "And what was your reason?"
Zayd’s eyes flickered with annoyance. "I don't have any. I just wanted her dead."
Karishma’s voice was almost a whisper, yet it cut through the tension like a knife. "Do you have any grudges against her?"
Zayd shifted uncomfortably, but his voice remained cold. "I don't have any. Main toh ise jaanta bhi nahi hu."
Karishma noticed the slight change in his demeanor. She pressed on, her tone deceptively calm. "Iska matlab tum maze ke liye murders karte ho? Matlab tumne aur bhi logo ko maara hoga, hai na?"
Zayd’s anger flared. "Kya bakwas kar rahi ho tum? Main tumhe serial killer dikhta hu kya? I just hate your Haseena. She destroyed my childhood and my life, and I hate her so much that I want her fucking dead!!"
