04: Looking For Who Is
Monday evening and a huge gossip was flying around. The Whisper Network had done what it was known for doing and now, everyone in the hostel was going crazy. Nunu could hear the noise from other hostels too, and all she was trying to do was sleep."Did I offend anybody?"
She had had only one class today, but it was a four-hour class and all she wanted to do was rest. PUL341 which was Criminal Law 1 had made her almost run mad today. The lecturer was a very strict man, so his class went on and on. During the class, Nunu had questioned her choice. Was studying Law by force?
"Na wa o!"
Her sister walked in that moment. "Nunu, you didn't lock the door. Why?" She locked the door.
"Sorry, I slept off. Are you actually just coming back? Guy, it's dark. What's the time?" Nunu asked.
Jade started taking off her clothes as she replied her sister. "7:17. And it's one stupid man that fixed a class by 4, knowing fully well that it's a three credit unit course. We're not even supposed to have him till Wednesday by 7:30, then baba came and started talking about how he'll not be around and we must all stay behind. I hate studying Estate Management. Tell me what the hell is Feasibility and Viability Appraisals! This man made us recite the course code and title over and over again, and now it's stuck."
She tied the rope of her bathrobe and stood in the middle of the room to mimic the man. "This class is ESM561. Feasibility and Viability Appraisals. Repeat until you get it!" She groaned and Nunu laughed. "Prof. Edegbe is mad man. Everyone actually thought three hundred level second semester would be the last time he'd teach us anything. And his exams are always tough. Simple answers, but have the worst twists in their questions. And of how many units? The man doesn't have a happy home and he's transferring aggression. I'm fucked. Please is there food?"
"There's peppered chicken and coleslaw," Nunu told her sister, who was already walking into the average-sized kitchen. "Why's everyone making noise in the hostel? Even other hostels."
"Apparently, the gossip page has dropped some hot gist. I haven't even checked, but I'm sure it's juicy. It always is. I just hate to get involved."
Nunu unplugged her phone and opened the school's website, then logged into her profile and clicked on the student forum.
