Gon stroked the copyhare's head with a soft soothing hum as it fed, holding the bottle up to its tiny mouth. He hadn't been able to locate its mother, so Gon decided to keep it until it was old enough to be released again. He didn't have anything particularly important going on, and he couldn't leave the poor thing to starve. It had been about a week, he didn't know everything about Copyhares but he figured it was probably a smart idea to teach it how to hunt. Once it had finished feeding, Gon scooped it up in his hands. "Do you know how to shape-shift yet?" He asked it curiously. The Copyhair tilted its head, chittering and pawing at his face. Gon huffed, about to ask his question again when suddenly the copyhare's eyes started shifting around.

They became..disturbingly human. Gon laughed awkwardly, patting its head. "Well that's good. Maybe not humans though. What about..." He grabbed his phone, quickly searching up a video. Gon wasn't sure if this would work, but it was worth a shot. The copyhare peered over his shoulder with a curious twitch of its nose. Gon clicked play on the video. Which was basically just a video of a cat meowing, and rolling over onto its belly. I wonder if it can get enough information from a video to copy an animal's features. It would be easier then going out and hunting for live animals to bring back for it.

To his delight the copyhare's legs lengthened, and its tail got a bit more bushy and full. Fur fluffing up as well. So cute!! It looks like a cat with a bunny face and ears! The copyhare let out a noise that sounded kind of like a mix between a whine and a meow. Gon played the video of the cat meowing again, watching in fascination as the creature stared at the video and tried to mimic it over and over again. Each time the sound perfected a little, which caused Gon to feel an odd sense of pride. "You're doing so well! Good boy." He praised, patting the creature on the head. The Copyhare let out an excited chitter at the praise, hopping around in a circle before landing back on his lap.

Gon hummed, shaking his head. "Cats don't hop. What about.... This!" Gon spent the next hour teaching his temporary companion how to mimic several kinds of animals. Of course the attempts weren't perfect, but he just needed more practice! He continued to teach it for another week, taking it outside to hunt for real as soon as it became old enough to come off milk. When the three week mark hit, he finally went back to where he'd moved the other Copyhares to in order to reunite it with its old Husk.

"Come on little guy, go on." He encouraged, gently pushing the baby Copyhare in the direction of the rest of his husk. The magical beast hesitated for a moment, before hopping back over to Gon and back into his bag again. Dammit. Gon whined internally. Did I accidently domesticate it? "You have to go with the other Copyhares, they're your family." He explained, gently setting it back on the ground, nudging it again. The Copyhare hopped back over to him immediately, staring up at him with wide pathetic eyes. Gon let out a sigh, scooping it up in his arms. "You really want to stay with me that bad?" The Copyhare let out a happy chitter, laying its head against his chest.

Now that I think about it, it probably thinks I'm its mother. Gon realized. I mean I found the poor thing when it was less than a week old, it probably didn't realize. He smiled softly, planting a gentle kiss on its fluffy head. Well I've always wanted to have a pet I guess... Aunt Mito never let him have one as a kid. Sure he had Kon, but it wasn't the same as having a tiny creature to look after. "I guess I should name you now." Gon realized aloud, as he began to walk back to port. He'd been putting off going to Yorknew for a while now. But he was starting to run out of cash, all this traveling really drained his pockets. Yorknew was a great place for networking, and to find people willing to spend a lot.

Gon stared thoughtfully at his new pet, unsure what name he should give it. "Hmmm....what about...Pon!" He said, with a bright smile. Pon snuggled closer into his chest, shifting to make himself more comfortable. Yeah, I like that. Pon's perfect for him.
