Killua only half watched the first few matches, none of them were particularly entertaining. Except for the first one, Hatsume ran rings around Kaminari in the most hilarious way possible. Todoroki and Kirishima's match ended pretty quickly, as did Bakugou and Ashido's. Killua didn't watch Sero and Yaoyorozu's fight, he preferred to wait instead in the waiting area so he could call Alluka again. "Woah, you're gonna fight in a tournament?" Alluka exclaimed. "So cool!" Killua chuckled, a warm smile gracing his face. "I'll make sure to record it for you later." Damn, he missed his little sister already. "Leorio said he was gonna teach me some stuff! Being a doctor is kinda cool."
"Big brother will be back home soon ok? Stay safe!"
"I love you big brother!"
"I love you too Allu."
He regretfully had to hang up on his little sister, but his first match was about to start. He made his way out of the room and onto the field. Tokoyami approached from the other end, dipping his head respectfully to him as Present Mic begun to announce them. "THE UNDERDOG AGAINST THE DARK SAMURAI AND HIS DARKER SHADOW! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE HAVE KILLUA FROM GENERAL STUDIES VERSUS FUMIKAGE TOKOYAMI FROM THE HERO COURSE!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hitoshi frowned as he watched the two face off against each other. There's no way that guy's from general studies. If he was, I'd have noticed him. Sure it was possible he hadn't met the guy, but surely someone would've known who he was. With that kind of stature and skill, he was the kind of person one would notice. Plus, there's no way he failed the entrance exam. Or only applied to general studies. Unless he was incredibly stupid, there was no possible way he could've ended up in general studies. He could hear his classmates muttering around him, discussing the same topic.
"You heard of him?"
"No."
"Is he really from general studies?"
"There's no way..."
Hitoshi narrowed his eyes as the battle started, keeping his eyes on Killua. This fight's gonna be over quickly, if the cavalry battle is anything to go by. He gritted his teeth, hand clenching into a fist. He worked so hard to get this far, just for that showoff to ruin his chances of ever getting recognized. He completely threw the cavalry battle, there were supposed to be double the amount of contestants in the next round. No wonder everyone else got beat out by the top three powerhouses.
Even so, the speed at which the match ended was still startlingly quick. Tokoyami released his dark shadow, but it wasn't quick enough. Killua suddenly seemed to appear behind his opponent, then a split second later he was dangling by the back of his shirt in Killua's hand. "Tokoyami is immobilized! Killua wins!"
That first match was over pretty quickly, Killua made his way back to the seating area with a satisfied look on his face. Everybody loves me. That was quite a nice feeling to have. Thousands of people cheering him on. Man, I could get used to this. Although as he stepped back into the seating area, he was suddenly aware that not everyone in fact did love him. Just the audience. The hero course students did not like him. Killua sat down besides Sato again, pretty much the only one not holding a grudge against him for what happened in the cavalry battle. Asui didn't seem to hold a grudge either, but she was sitting bunched up in a group with the other girls.
"Man, you really are a show off aren't you."
Sato said, with an awkward chuckle. Killua shrugged. "Eh, not really. In the cavalry battle absolutely. But my fight with Tokoyami was just a clean finish, you know?" He let out a sigh. "Man, I haven't really gotten to have fun like that in ages." He realized aloud. Sure he'd kept his strength up, but it wasn't the same. Traveling with Alluka, keeping her safe. He devoted most of his time to her, so he hadn't really gotten the chance to go on any fun adventures like he had with Gon. Gon... I wonder how he's doing. Killua thought, the smile fading from his face. He'd heard that Gon continued doing hunter work from Leorio, but he hadn't actually seen his best friend since they'd separated.
He'd always had complicated feelings surrounding his friendship with Gon. Killua had always thought that it was just because it was his first real friendship, but as time passed he realized how he felt about Gon was different than just friendship. It had taken him a while to come to grips with the realization he was in fact crushing on Gon, and what to do about it. In the end, he decided to just do nothing. Besides, I think he has a girlfriend or something anyways. Killua grumbled internally. Leorio said something about how he was having dinner with some lady a few months ago
You should just be happy for him, Killua. He told himself, leaning back in his chair. Plus, he was still kind of mad at Gon for those things he said during the end of the war. The words that he'd never apologized for, even though Killua had to clean up after that idiot's mess despite Gon saying none of it even mattered to him. That idiot can never admit when he's wrong. But despite that, he couldn't help but still want to chase after him. Fuck, why do I still care. I mean we haven't even spoken in two whole years. He probably already replaced me or something. The thought of that made something in his gut twist, but he pushed down those negative feelings as much as he could.
"You good?"
Killua was snapped out of his thoughts by a tap on his shoulder. He glanced sideways at Sato, letting out a chuckle. "Yea. Just got lost in thought. He turned his eyes back to the up and coming match. Trying to erase that previous thought from his mind. He's probably already replaced me... Echoed in his mind once again. Killua shook his head to clear it, focusing on the match ahead. Kaminari and Todoroki huh? This'll be over in seconds.
Can't wait until my next match
