Changbin's hands trembled as he gripped the steering wheel, the car's engine rumbling softly in the empty parking lot. He slammed his fist against the wheel, the sound reverberating in the stillness. "Fuck, fuck, fuck!!" he yelled, his voice breaking with each curse. His breathing was ragged, coming in short, uneven gasps as he tried to wrestle with the flood of emotions overwhelming him.
He pounded the dashboard again, then let his head fall forward, tears streaming down his face. The realization that Logan was his father—something he had never suspected, never wanted—was too much to process. "How the fuck does this even happen?!" he shouted into the empty night, his voice echoing off the walls of the deserted parking lot. "How could this be my life?!"
Changbin's hyperventilation quickened, his breaths coming in short, sharp bursts. He felt trapped in a whirlwind of anger and despair. He kicked the glove compartment, his frustration mounting, but the pain and noise did nothing to alleviate the storm inside him.
Just then, headlights pierced the darkness. Hank and Logan arrived, their car's engine cutting off as they parked a few spaces away. Logan, face set in grim determination, stepped out first, his eyes scanning the area until they landed on Changbin's car.
"Changbin!" Logan called out, his voice edged with urgency. "Let us in, kid!"
Hank followed close behind, his expression a mixture of concern and sympathy. "Changbin, we're here to help. Please, open the door."
Inside the car, Changbin's body shook with sobs as he struggled to control his breathing. He heard their voices but couldn't bring himself to move. The door was locked, and he kept his head down, hiding his tears and trying to regain some semblance of composure.
Logan approached the driver's side and tried the door handle. Finding it locked, he banged lightly on the window. "Come on, kid. We're not here to hurt you. Just let us in."
Hank added from the other side of the car, his voice calm but firm, "We want to help. Just breathe, okay? We can work this out."
Changbin finally raised his head, his face flushed and tear-streaked. His eyes were red, and he looked at Logan with a mix of rage and confusion. He unlocked the door with a shaky hand and swung it open, staring blankly at Logan and Hank as they approached.
Logan, trying to soften his expression, said, "I didn't know, Changbin. I swear. I had no idea I had a son, and now, finding out like this... It's as much a shock to me as it is to you."
Changbin's voice was a raw whisper between sobs. "You didn't know? Then why... why did you—" He trailed off, unable to finish the question, his words choking him.
Hank stepped closer, gently placing a hand on Changbin's shoulder. "Listen, it's clear you're hurting right now. It's okay to be angry, to feel lost. But you don't have to go through this alone. We can figure this out, but you need to calm down first."
Changbin's breath was still coming in short bursts, his fists clenched at his sides. "I just... I don't know what to do. I don't even know who I am right now."
Logan took a deep breath, struggling to keep his own emotions in check. "You're not alone in this. I fucked up, and I'm sorry. But I'm here now, and we can try to understand what happened, together."
As the tension in the car slowly began to dissipate, Logan and Hank worked to calm Changbin down. Hank guided him into a seated position and helped him focus on his breathing. Logan kept his distance, giving Changbin space but remaining close enough to offer support.
"Let's just take it one step at a time," Hank said soothingly. "We'll get through this. It's going to be okay."
Slowly, Changbin's breathing began to even out, though he remained visibly shaken. Logan stayed by his side, his face a mixture of regret and concern, as the night stretched on with its unresolved questions and newfound revelations.
