I was woken up by the sun shining through my window and into my face. For once I was a bright and sunshiny day in Forks. I found myself walking into the kitchen at the smell of food. "It smells amazing."
"I'm making pancakes!" Mimi says automatically making my mouth salivate.
"I'm excited to devour them, " I respond and take a seat at the kitchen table. "It looks nice out."
"Eh, don't get used to it. It's not like that all the time." Popo gruffly walks over with a cup of coffee in hand.
"Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, Popo?" I question sarcastically making Mimi snicker.
"Just stating the office, dear." He shrugs and takes a sip of his coffee. "Since it's, nice out though we are going into town." I perked up at his words.
"Oh! What are we going to do?"
"Well first, get you some clothes of your own. Also, Popo and I have to run some errands and start getting the beach ready." Mimi states and walks over with two plates in her hands. I stare at the plate of blueberry pancakes as she places it in front of me."Beach ready for what?" I question with a raised brow.
"La Push hosts a gathering called Summer Bash to kick start summer. It takes place on La Push Beach and the funds raised go back to the Quileute Tribe and La Push." Mimi explains as she walks back into the kitchen.
"Your grandmother has become a social butterfly in the time that we have lived here. She's part of the city chamber." Popo tells me before taking a bite of his pancakes. "She knows everyone and everything."
"Skipper, what did I say about talking with food in your mouth?" Mimi snips making my grandfather's eyes widen and covers his mouth with his hand. I couldn't help but giggle."Well, I'll be more than willing to help!" I chirp up before starting to eat.
"Perfect! That way I won't-"
"You're still helping me Skip." Mimi cuts off my grandfather making him groan.
"I've been trying to get out of this." He tells me as Mimi comes back over to the table and sits.
"And you are not." She states and takes a sip of her coffee. "Sue is expecting our help."
"Yeah, yeah," Popo responded with a nonchalant wave of his hand. We were all quick to finish our breakfast before heading out into town.Forks was cute and quaint. My grandparents were able to show me around the small town I'd be calling home for a while. I was able to find quite a few fashionable clothes for my own wardrobe while out as well as the extra decor the Mimi and Popo needed for the Summer Bash. It wasn't too long before I found myself on the very beach I washed up on the other night.
"So, this is La Push Beach?" I question while holding a box of ribbons, streamers, and other decorative material.
"The one and only," Popo states. I looked around making sure no one was in the vicinity of us before speaking again.
"I washed up here. The area has a...mystical sensation to it." I see my grandparents exchange an uncanny look with one another before looking at me. I narrow my eyes at them, "If there's tea to spill then spill it."
"This isn't the Boston Harbor, kiddo," Popo responds making me give him a deadpanned look."Skipper, Daria, you both made it!" A female voice calls out before I can say anything. I turn around and my eyes land on a woman approaching us with long black hair and tan skin. A large smile on her face.
"Sue! Of course, we did!" Mimi responded to the lady before throwing whatever she was holding into the box I had in my arms. I watch as she walks towards the woman while trying to adjust my grip on the box. Popo motions for me to follow him with his head as he walks towards the two women."Thank you two so much for helping again! It means so much." The woman named Sue says with her hands clapped together.
"Of course, anything to help!" Mimi states before motioning toward me. "This is our granddaughter, Nixie, by the way. Nixie, this is our good friend Sue Clearwater."
My eyes locked onto the woman, her energy was so warm and inviting. Very motherly.
"Wow, genetics in the family are strong. You look so much like, Nerissa." The lady states with a smile.
"Oh! Yes, she's my older sister. I would shake your hand but," I hold up the box to show her. "Oh, sorry, let me take that!" She responds quickly and grabs the box from my hands. My arms drop to my sides loosely. "How is she doing?"
"She's good! She missed being home." I respond making the woman give a small smile.
"I remember her telling me that. She was very quiet and to herself." Sue responds. I was going to add to that, but Popo cut me off.
"Nothing like Nixie here." He says and pats my shoulder.
"Awe, I bet you'd get along with my granddaughter," Sue responds causing my grandparents to smile.
"Renesmee, is it?" Mimi questions and Sue smiles.
"Yes! She needs more girlfriends. She only hangs out with Seth and the others. You know how they are." Sue says with a light-hearted laugh. I awkwardly scratch the back of my head looking around. It's been a while since I've had a human friend and it seemed like this Sue lady looked very hopeful in regards to me becoming friends with her granddaughter. Renesmee...what a unique name."My ears are burning. You all are talking about me?" A girl's voice rings out. I quickly whip around to see a girl approaching from behind us.
"Speak of the devil!" Sue states and walks over to the girl. Just at a glance, these two looked nothing alike. I never would've thought they were grandmother and granddaughter. Sue hugs the pale girl before they both walk over to us again. "Renesmee, this is Skipper and Daria, you remember them right?"
"Oh, of course! Nice to see you both again." She says before waving her hand in greeting.
"Good to see you too dear," Mimi responds with a soft smile on her face.
"You've grown a lot. I feel like it hasn't been that long since I've seen you." Popo states making the girl awkwardly laugh.
"I eat my greens and drink my milk." She laughs and gives a double thumbs up. This girl is kind of awkward. I like it."Nessie, this is Skipper and Daria's grandaughter, Nixie. She's here visiting for the year." Sue states and motions toward me. The girl turns her attention to me and we automatically lock eyes. She was gorgeous and seemed almost ethereal. Her skin was like porcelain, and her dark brown hair almost looked lively. Her eyes were such a dark shade of brown that they almost looked black. She seemingly looked like she was created by one of the Greek gods almost. I couldn't help but to raise a brown. My sixth sense skyrocketed as I stared at her.
"I'm Nixie. Nixie Blue." I introduce myself to her before sticking out my right hand for her to shake. "Nice to meet you." The girl blinked a few times before smiling at me.
"I'm Renesmee Cullen. But, you can call me Nessie." She introduces herself before shaking my hand. "Nice to meet you too."
