Jungkook impatiently waited for the librarian, searching for a specific scroll. After some time, the old librarian returned, excitedly holding an old leather-bound scroll. His steps were shaky due to his age, and Jungkook couldn't quite guess how old he was. The man seemed ancient, and it was puzzling why he was still working in the library at such an age.
"Look! This scroll," the librarian exclaimed.
Jungkook stepped forward to take a closer look. The librarian shakily opened the scroll, revealing what appeared to be an ancient royal document. Jungkook noticed beautifully handwritten notes, which looked similar to the letters in the original book.
"See? Take it! You'll learn so much!" the old librarian explained, breathing heavily with a strange smile on his face. Jungkook found the man's behavior a bit confusing, but he assumed the librarian was just excited to finally have someone to share his favorite book with. Jungkook took the scroll in his hands and began reading it carefully, feeling a mix of excitement and curiosity about the Ebonmoon Kingdom.
While Jungkook was focused on examining the letters, the librarian suddenly returned with five more scrolls. Jungkook hadn't even noticed when the old man had left.
Handing all the scrolls to Jungkook, the librarian said, "Take these too! Now, come, let me show you the portraits."
Jungkook quickly followed the librarian to the end of the row, separated by an old, dirty white curtain. The librarian slowly pulled the curtain aside, revealing a small space with an old table and chair. On the wall behind them were two portraits covered with red cloths, both dark and dusty. It seemed like this part of the library hadn't been used in a long time.
At first, Jungkook thought it might be a storeroom separated from the main library by the curtain, but upon closer inspection, he realized it looked more like a workspace for one or two people. The librarian turned on a hanging bulb using a rope switch. The light looked ancient, and Jungkook couldn't help but wonder how it was still working. It was definitely not a modern aesthetic design; it was genuinely old.
Jungkook noticed a beautiful, yet dusty, carving on the table and chair. It seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite remember where he had seen it before.
"See these two portraits? The one on the right is the Alpha's, and the one on the left is the Witch's. Exciting, isn't it?" the old man asked eagerly. Jungkook nodded, eyeing the covered portraits. The librarian slowly uncovered the left portrait, causing a heavy layer of dust to fill the air. Jungkook coughed a little, waving his hand in front of his face.
When he finally looked at the portrait, a wave of disappointment washed over him. The Witch's face was completely damaged, making it impossible to identify her. However, there was a red rose in the painting that caught his eye.
The old librarian carefully removed the cloth covering the right portrait, revealing an image that instantly captivated Jungkook. His breath caught as he gazed at the man depicted in the painting.
