The soft sound of birds chirping filled the morning air, blending with the warmth of the sun already high in the sky.  Ebonmoon was coming alive with the day’s activities. Taehyung sat at his desk, the faint bird song a subtle backdrop to his work. His fingers moved with practiced ease, sorting through the stack of papers— reports, boundary updates, and diplomatic correspondences. Each document was carefully reviewed and organized into neat piles, a routine that brought a sense of order to the ever-present chaos of ruling Ebonmoon.

With the last document set in place, Taehyung rose from his seat and moved to the window. He looked up at the sky, noting the white, soft, cotton-like clouds floating in the brilliant blue expanse. The day promised to be warm and clear, and he took a moment to calculate the weather. Satisfied, he turned away his face as impassive as ever.

Stepping outside his pavilion, Taehyung walked with purpose, his steps measured and deliberate. The air was crisp but held the promise of heat later in the day. As he made his way toward the infirmary pavilion, soldiers and servants crossed his path, each bowing respectfully as he passed. He nodded in response.

As he neared the medicine pavilion, where Jungkook was staying, something within him began to shift. His heartbeat quickened, each pulse stronger than the last, pounding like a war drum in his chest. The familiar scent of pine and earth that usually filled the air was now mingled with something new—earthy, sweet, and utterly captivating. The scent tugged at his senses, clouding his thoughts and making it difficult to focus on anything but the Omega within.

As he approached the pavilion, he barely noticed the soldiers guarding the entrance, who bowed respectfully as he passed. His mind was too consumed by the overwhelming scent, his composure fraying at the edges as he unconsciously ignored their presence. His wolf howled within him, demanding that he close the distance, that he claim what was his.

By the time he reached the pavilion door, his thoughts were in a haze of instinct and desire. He hesitated, his hand hovering in the air, the sound of Jungkook’s heartbeat resonating through the door—steady, yet quickening, as if it too recognized his presence.

Taehyung took a deep breath, trying to steady himself, but the scent only intensified, making it impossible to think clearly. Finally, with what little composure he had left, he knocked twice, the sound echoing in the quiet morning. For a few seconds, he stood there, his heart racing, before he swift the door open and stepped inside.

Taehyung's heart was racing, the erratic rhythm a sharp contrast to his usually composed demeanor. He tried to steady himself, but the scent that filled the air was too overpowering, too intoxicating. It took every ounce of self-control to keep his hand from trembling as he pushed open the door to the pavilion where Jungkook was staying.

As the door swung open, the sight before him made his breath catch in his throat. There stood Jungkook, eyes wide with shock, his body tense as if ready to flee at any moment. But what struck Taehyung the most were the young Omega's eyes—no longer their usual deep brown, but a piercing blue, glowing with the unmistakable light of his wolf.

For a moment, neither of them moved. The air between them was thick with tension, an electric charge that seemed to pulse with every heartbeat. Taehyung's gaze locked onto Jungkook's, and he felt his own eyes shift, the golden hue of his wolf's gaze taking over. The change was undeniable, the connection between them a tangible force that drew them closer together despite the fear and confusion swirling in their minds.

Mate. The word echoed in Taehyung's mind, not just his own thoughts but the insistent cry of his wolf, urging him to close the distance, to claim what was his. But the rational part of him held back, warring with the primal instincts that threatened to overwhelm him.
