POV YN
Mom was more than just furious; she was genuinely worried. My small lie about not touching the food had really upset her. The taste of that dish was so terrible it reminded me of swallowing mud—not that I had any idea what that would taste like, but the comparison seemed fitting.
I used that analogy to explain how I felt, and the concern was evident on her face. Seeing her cry broke my heart, and I hated seeing her suffer because of something I had done. So, despite it all, I promised her I would try to eat, even though the taste was horrendous.
On the way to the set, Mom asked me about dinner and I told her everything that had happened, except about Dad. When we arrived, I noticed Dad watching us cautiously, probably expecting that I would first tell Mom about our disagreement. But to his surprise, I kept quiet. I'm not one to tattle, and I certainly didn't want to be the reason for a fight between them. Even though their relationship was tense, it was clear they both made an effort for my sake.
Mom had to leave soon because she had promised to go shopping with Rose. I spent my time filming my scenes and hanging out on set, joking and messing around with some of the actors, including Alan. Not everyone was into the humor, but at least they weren't sour.
Suddenly, the sound of my phone filled the room. It was Ava, overflowing with excitement: "Taylor Swift! Emily told me yesterday that Taylor follows us. And now I see she follows us on all the social platforms, and you have a photo with her! How did that happen?"
I smiled as I rubbed my sore ear from her shrieks. "I met her last night at dinner. It turns out she's the godmother of my sisters and the best friend of Blake. She's wonderful, very sweet, and she even invited me to one of her concerts. I wish you could come; maybe I could see if we could go together with Blake," I suggested spontaneously, thrilled at the idea of enjoying a concert with Ava and experiencing an artist we both admired together.
"Wow! I hope I can. Let me know when. Maybe Mom can manage to bring Emily too, and you can meet her!" Ava replied.
Hearing her suggestion, I felt a weight on my shoulders. The thought of meeting Emily didn't appeal to me at all. Ava always spoke highly of her, and although not everything she said was positive, she tended to gloss over the less flattering details.
"Well, I don't know... Taylor invited me, and I'd be happy to invite you..." I responded hesitantly. It didn't feel right to ask her to also invite another girl whom I didn't even know and, to be honest, didn't particularly care for.
"Come on, it would be fun. And if anyone can pull it off, it's you, with all your connections," Ava insisted, her enthusiasm unwavering. "Ever since she started following us, we've gained even more followers and a lot of people have been asking why so many celebrities follow us. Imagine if your mom had an official account in her name..."
I sighed deeply. "Mom isn't really into social media; she sticks to her work account and that's it."
"I know, but maybe you could convince her," Ava continued, still upbeat.
Suddenly, I stopped paying attention when I felt someone watching me. I scanned the area until my eyes locked with those of the casting director from the neighboring set. Noticing my gaze, she perhaps thought I was inviting her over because she started walking towards me.
"Ava..." I swallowed nervously. "I have to hang up now." I ended the call just as she approached.
"You're Yn Johanson, right?"
