I rode my motorcycle towards my sister's manor at a high speed. I couldn't wait to see her and my nephew, Alex. I thought that a surprise visit would be a great idea so here I was. When I arrived, I hopped off and ran to the door. Alex answered it moments later. "Boo." I attempted to scare him as a joke. "Ahh. Uncle. Bloody hell." Alex was clearly startled. "Hey. Don't let your parents here that language, young man." I waggled a finger at him and smirk. Evie came to the door. "Eric, nice to see you, baby brother." I looked up at my sister. "You too, Evie." "Come in. We've just come back from Egypt actually and there's something I want you to see." I raised my eyebrow. "Oh, really." I said in a funny way causing Alex to laugh. I ruffled his hair before rushing after my sister.

She brought me a box and when I opened it, I was faced with the Bracelet of Anubis. I stared down at it mesmerised, as if it had me in a bit of a trance. "Eric, Eric, are you ok?" My sister asked. "Err, uhm, yeah, sure I am." I smiled. "Wow. Anubis, huh." Evie smiled. "I thought that you might like it." She gestured to my Jackal tattoo I had done on my right forearm. "Why Anubis?" I shook my head, trying to recall a reason but nothing came up. "I don't know, just seemed right, you know?" Evie shrugged and took the box from me to set in down on the table. Just then, I felt a pat on the back. I turned around only to see Rick, my sister's husband. "Hey, kid. Didn't know you were coming around." "Ahh, well. Thought a surprise would be cool." I answered. Rick smiled and nodded. "Fair enough."

"It would be amazing if you came with us once. To Egypt, I mean." Evie sat down on the sofa as she spoke to me. "Yeah, Uncle. It would've been a lot better with you there." Alex came into the lounge. I smiled at them both. "Well, maybe I will." Rick laughed. "You betta'. I know you love Egypt as much as Evie does." I nodded and smiled. "That's true. Did Jonathan go with you?" Evie chuckled. "No. I don't know where's he's got to these days. Drunk probably. That's his favourite." I laughed. "Nothing's changed then." Alex sighed and sat down. "Well, what did you expect?" He said in a sarcastic tone. I chuckled. "He's becoming a lot more like you everyday, Eric." Rick said as he hugged Evie.

A bang came from behind us. I turned to see a dark-skinned man wearing red. He had a knife in his hand. "The box. Now." He spoke stern. Rick jumped up as I pulled Alex behind me. "What makes you think that we would give it to you." Rick answered back. The man smiled grimly and, on que, several others, all dressed in blood-red overalls, came out of nowhere. "We could of done this the easy way, but, never mind. This way is much more fun." I knew that a fight would break out so I grabbed Alex and pulled him away from the scene and hopefully out of harms way. Rick and Evie went to fight the men and soon, it was like a small battleground. Someone grabbed me from behind. I jumped and went to attack them, instinctively, but when I saw who it was, I stopped completely. Evie and Rick had told me about him. He had the same facial tattoos that they had described and the same long, dark hair. Ardeth Bay. He was a Medjai, decendant of the 19th century Pharoah Seti's body guards.

"You must be Eric." He spoke softly, causing me to shudder a little. But weirdly, I knew it was in a good way. "You need to stay here. I don't want you two getting hurt." And with that he sped off towards Evie and Rick to aid them in the fight. I wanted to join, to help. But Alex, he was my top priority. I honestly didn't know what I would do without him. I hugged him tight and told him that it was going to be ok. The fight soon ceased and Rick and, surprising, Jonathan was running about frantically. I stopped them. "What's wrong?!" "It's Evie. I can't find her anywhere." Ardeth lead us outside to see a few cars driving off. "They must of taken her." Ardeth spoke. Rick was furious. "But why? What for?!" I was just as puzzled as Rick and Alex were. Only Ardeth seemed to know anything.

Ardeth was suddenly angry. "And now they have the Bracelet." "I wouldn't say that." Alex rose his sleeve to show the golden Bracelet of Anubis on his wrist. Ardeth grabbed his wrist and shook his head. "You have started an ancient curse. The Army of Anubis will be awakened in 30 days. And you will die unless we get you to the golden pyramid in Egypt in time." "Dad?!" Alex said alarmed. Rick nodded. "We'll get Evie back and that's where we'll go next, I promise." "Don't worry Alex, we'll let nothing harm you." I reassured my nephew. He looked up at me and sent me a weak smile.

"That man. Umm. I swear I know him." Alex started. Rick shot him a look. "Who was he?!" "He works in the British Museum. The Curator." Ardeth nodded. Rick took Alex and got into his car along with my brother, Jonathan. I went to my motorcycle. Ardeth looked at me. "You ride?" His tone was somewhat curious. "I do. Care to join me?" He smiled and took the place behind me, wrapping his strong arms around me. "Is this too tight?" I looked back at him and raised my eyebrow. Wow. He was a bit of a people pleaser. Kinda my type. I nodded and couldn't help but smile to myself. "Yeah it's good." I started up the engine and we raced after Rick's car and towards the library.

I arrived before Rick and beat him too it. Ardeth chuckled. "You can ride." Oh and the complement. I felt a little bummed out when he removed his arms from around my middle but I knew it had to come. When he was off, I took it as my turn. Rick arrived moments later and him and Ardeth went over to Rick's car to discuss weaponry. That left Alex, Jonathan and I to talk. "Good to see ya, Eric?" My brother said. I sent him a nod. "Likewise. Not drunk I see." I couldn't help but say. He rolled his eyes and chuckled. "Well, actually, I am." He said cockily. When Alex and Jonathan started to argue, I took it as my que to leave. I walked over to where Ardeth and Rick were, picking out their weapon of choice.

Ardeth looked up at my arrival. "What do you prefer? Weapons I mean." I looked down to see guns of many sorts and the odd knife and dagger. "I rather like the Khopesh. But, I err, don't think Rick would have any of those." Ardeth raised his eyebrow. "The weapon of Anubis. Interesting." He said as he caught sight of my tattoo. "Actually," Rick pulled out a dual set of gold and black Khopesh. "I believe I do." My face couldn't help but light up. I took them and clipped them to my belt. "Thanks, mate." Rick smirked. "Evie found them years back in Egypt and they've just been sitting in our house ever since. I brought them to give to you. No point leaving them in our library."

I thanked him again and caught Ardeth smiling with such admiration at me. I had to smile back. Rick strolled over to Jonathan and Alex, telling them both to stay by the car. They did not argue with that suggestion, especially Jonathan. He had never been the type of person to go fighting somewhere. He preferred the company of alcohol and bars. "Right, you guys ready." Rick spoke to Ardeth and I. "Of course." Ardeth said. "Always." I added. "Let's go get my sister back." I said fiercely. "That's the spirit." Rick chuckled as the three of us made our way forward towards the dark building before us.
